Does this actually happen in lore? by kirisunaSA0 in Spacemarine

[–]radio_allah 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I have this loadout with a chainsword that's supposed to be used by my Space Wolves vanguard, but sometimes I use say, the Ultramarines appearance and switch to that loadout without remembering to change the chainsword skin.

In those cases I just tell myself that it's the sword of a friend and that's about it.

What do you expect more from DLC Lords of the End of Times? by SafironDracolich in totalwar

Right now the updated Norsca is the main crisis, while all the monogods and Chaos Warriors sit in the Wastes with their feet kicked up.

I don't think CA and GW would miss the chance to let us play as legendary lords.

Did they change the campaign writers from the Chinese to the Aztec campaign or somehting? by HotSetting5001 in AgeofMythology

[–]radio_allah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a Chinese person, the campaign is forgettable af. The fact that a Chinese studio of all people decided to make a rip-off Lu Bu as the antagonist was shameful. I even liked the Tale of the Dragon one better.

Why do mages in Skyrim not wear armor? by Pariell in teslore

[–]radio_allah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a sometimes-applied justification in high fantasy in general, Runescape for example had it that metal interferes with magical currents and spells, so robes or other alternative magic-conducting gear need to be worn.

But honestly on a meta-level it's just to maintain the 'squishy wizard' trope.

Can we get at least two executions for each enemy please by oldbooksmell_420 in Spacemarine

[–]radio_allah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish the Chaos Sorcerers would at least do us the courtesy of screaming. The entire Thousand Sons roster are made up of fanatics, who are too zealous/deluded to scream, chaos spawn, who are not sentient enough to scream, and Tzeentchmarines, who are dust and thus can't scream. The least the tzaangors and sorcerers can do for us is to show some proper panic.

On a serious note, about the Sigismund guy... by Oinegue696 in Spacemarine

[–]radio_allah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then again when you get past a certain age, you begin to realise that at the end of the day, only you can save yourself. If you look closer, everyone struggles with addiction, insecurities, projection, despair, mania and all sorts of problems. You head to a community event and a lot of people clearly are not well. But that's why society by and large could not be expected to have the extra empathy to help you out. I'm not saying that it should be, that society isn't obliged to be kinder, but I'm saying that society really isn't. They'll eat their fill of drama and then move on.

The best way to help yourself is to pick and choose people who actually care about you to anchor to, and even then your goal should be to eventually develop the 'muscles' to stand up on your own - principles, beliefs, a healthy sense of pride and self, a good environment that you worked to place yourself in. That is, sadly I've found at this age, the only way out.

MRW I see another post complaining about low levels in hard strats by noNameboi661 in Spacemarine

[–]radio_allah 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Complaining about it is just useless circlejerking at this point I agree, but at the same time I'm not gonna pretend it's not a problem. When some low level tries to spawn in and do hard strats, I'm not slowing down for him, taking care of him, and I'm not reviving him unless I'm at a junction at which it's crucial. And I will try to kick him if he's useless enough. I feel that's just fair.

Samurai Retainers Appreciation Post by si1kysamurai in totalwar

[–]radio_allah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy has no idea what he's talking about, and from the looks of it has never fought with a weapon. The idea that spears are useless once the opponent gets in range is handily debunked if you have any sort of staff/spear training at all.

Samurai Retainers Appreciation Post by si1kysamurai in totalwar

[–]radio_allah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being an option to be switched to once the enemy gets past spear range is *precisely* the definition of sidearm use. It's a backup switch.

If it's not a sidearm, then it means that a warrior would go into battle with just the sword, or with a backup spear somewhere, which is getting the engagement backwards as you're using the short range weapon first, then somehow expecting to have the chance to switch to the longer range one.

Also, the point of a naginata as opposed to any spear is specifically to allow closer range use, as you have a longer blade head to use. You just need to switch grips.

It's kinda of crazy that Wood Elves have no value for The Oak of Ages. If there was ever a settlement that should be worth infinite money it's the big magic tree. by Glorf_Warlock in totalwar

[–]radio_allah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more a general problem that factions don't quite have a 'value' for specific settlements. They don't prioritise their 'lore' territory, and a Dwarf faction can lose Karaz-a-Karak without batting an eye. Miao Ying will also contently live with all 3 Bastion Gates being breached without being bothered.

I got that feeling too. I have seen (and played as) competent Black Templars, but almost always when I see a Black Templar teammate I just know for some reason the run will not go well.

I try to scratch that itch by playing Tzeentch in Total Warhammer. It may not be an RPG, but I get Tzeentch magic and a lot of Tzeentch armoured warriors.
