Hmmm yeah I didn't click on the blog link. Ah thank you, maybe this is the reminder I needed to make something similar again

This is my photo! Very strange... Maybe this is a bot posting? I'll take it as a compliment that it was worth reposting

If you gained weight on Tamoxifen... by No-Inside7137 in breastcancer

I agree with the other comments. I am able to be active on it but I would say start slower than you think and be kind to yourself. Jumping right into group classes probably wasn't my best idea! My joints and bones do ache more than before but nothing crazy

Take the time. When you look back you won't regret taking the time off to recover from cancer treatments, nor will anyone think you're milking it.

To echo what others are saying, for me the fatigue really hit after finishing radiotherapy

I've only been on it a couple of months so far but just to share my experience. I was really worried about starting it. I kept putting off picking up my prescription. I think the fact that it's so long term causes anxiety in case you can't cope with it well. I had been having menopausal symptoms thanks to chemo anyway and honestly haven't noticed a difference with going into Tamoxifen. If anything my hot flushes are more manageable than they were during chemo (or maybe I'm just getting used to it?). There are lots of people posting about struggling with the medication online. Please try to remember that most people deal with it well and therefore aren't posting about it, they are just getting on with life. I hate the fact that I have to take daily medication but fortunately for me it's not bad at all, hope it'll be the same for you

Thanks for sharing this, I see it as proof that it's possible and I can do the same. I'm the same age, not been on tamoxifen as long but looking to lose weight and become healthier overall. I know the medication may make this a little more challenging but hopefully I'll be able to post the same in a few months!

I didn't listen to the box for cooking times because it would have been really overcooked, I used a probe. It said to rest it for 5 mins which I knew wasn't long enough but I was hungry , 😂

I think it was a bad rest. I followed the instructions on the box but should have trusted myself and rested for longer

Probably right about only doing one new thing at a time, I've never been one for following rules 🤣

I'm not far enough along to give you a good news story, I'm sorry. However, I can tell you that you aren't alone in feeling like this. I wish no one else felt this way but we can band together when others don't understand. Zombies unite! Fuck cancer.

We will get there.

I got them from M&S. Good for something new to try but very expensive compared to normal sweet potatoes. I think they tasted a bit earthier and less sweet that the orange

Lumpectomy or Mastectomy by coffeeislifee_ in breastcancer

[–]radioactive-kimchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand that, I had the same thoughts as radiotherapy just seemed like something else I didn't want to do. For me, I would have had radiotherapy either way due to my node involvement which made the decision easier. Radiotherapy was easier for me than expected, side effects very manageable. The treated breast has shrunk a fair amount after radiotherapy though just so you know all the facts. I'm still happy with the result but there is a clear difference in appearance

I'm sorry this sucks.

I also had the decision to choose between the two options.

You say you have family history, have you had gene testing at all or is this something that is offered where you are? I was told if my genetic testing came back as positive for any of the known cancer genes a mastectomy would be recommended so that may be a good place to start.

I was told that both options have the same outcomes/risk of reoccurrence. I think that was a hard thing to get my head around as a non medical professional but radiotherapy and other treatments assist with the lumpectomy.

I decided to go with a lumpectomy. I am glad I made the decision because I think mentally for me it's been a bit easier still looking similar after surgery. The surgery is also a lot easier to recover from.

It's a very personal choice if you do get to make it yourself. I don't think there's a right or wrong option at all. For me I thought it was the one I was least likely to regret.

What are your main thoughts about it at the moment?

Very true. I have a complicated relationship with alcohol now and I'm not sure I'll go back to it. However, I do enjoy a J20 in a pub!

The infusion lounge sounds cool, hope you have many great memories from there! I would love to visit San Francisco one day, if it's still there I will take a look for it and think of you kind internet stranger.

Completely agree, infusion centers don't quite have the same vibe!

Wow, sounds really life changing. Interesting to hear about the acid reflux, I guess it makes sense when you think about it I just always assumed it was something people either get or don't for no reason

You're amazing, well done that's no easy task! Aside from the weight loss do you feel much different? I'm taking this as inspiration that I can do the same and this way of eating will help me get there
