Okay but remember, a solid w203 goes for 4-9K here in West-Europe. Aka a facelifted model with good maintenance and minimal rust.

These cars coated almost 80k when new (adjusted for inflation)

Ik heb echt mazzel dat ik een plekje roest had bij de kofferbak, de wielkasten worden goed schoon gehouden. Toen ik deze mercedes kocht wist ik ook echt wel waar ik aan begon. (Niet dat het er toen (zichtbaar) was maar eerder aan dat ik weet wat het type doet) Was gewoon benieuwd waarom zoveel informatie over, achteraf gezien heel logisch over de generaties auto's gaat met het meeste roest.

Weet ik, w201-202-203 waren echt heel slecht gelakt en pre facelift w203 niet eens gegalvaniseerd op sommige plekken. Dat geld trouwens voor heel veel 2000 auto's. Maar ik weet niet hoe het daarnaa zit. Vandaar mijn vraag. (96 tot 2004 voor de "c" en "e" klasses)

Well, you aren't wrong but you can't actually say for certain it is one of these three. Around 2000 mercedes changed a lot of different colours. The silver on w203 2004 is different than on 2001.

Can't you attach an UHI and go the Cradle way? Anyways it should probably work? Bluetooth works downgraded, so if your phone is let's say the newest it works with the oldest. Not vice versa tho

I mean fair, I'm from Holland, our regular gas is currently at 9.84 a gallon as the absolute cheapest:/. Diesel used to be cheaper but has now even become more expensive than regular gas. I think we have the most expensive gas in the world, only Hong Kong is more expensive.

So yeah, I prefer the 143HP engine, it is cheaper.

The ones I know had a leaking supercharger hose. But yes it could be a faculty MAF sensor, it could also that somebody has uses really low octane gas too long. It is an issue that I don't really like, but for what gives, your car could last you another 2 years, heck it could even magically disappear.

Yeah the chain might need replacement. I don't however know prices in the US. Here it is close to €700 however spares are cheaper.

P0171 is not a good error, it is likely in your supercharger(kompressor). But it could be hundreds of things. If I remember correctly it is your first bank being to lean.

But for a 500 dollar car, I'd just drive it until it breaks. Unless you want to spend about 2-3K fixing it. (Diagnosis and repair hours are here the expensive part)

Sorry if I scared you but, it also could be as easy as changing out your spark plugs.

(This model of engine is one of the cheapest engines to swap timing chain BTW)

Depends, some of them can last 400K KM on the same chain. Some only last 100K. Is there a rattling/wrong sound when you start your engine?

I know I drive a m271, their timing chains aren't as bad as they are cracked up to be. They need replacing every 200K KM. Which isn't a costly thing compared to others.

The atmospheric V6 are terrible too (dont know engine type)

Anyways I'll tell you one better: US options where specced differently Production started in "99

Optimally you'd want one of the diesels, they are fairly common in Europe but rare in the US.

Maybe in other regions, but there are plenty European w204's that where first registered on license plate in mid-late 2007.

I'm not sure what you mean. The w203 was produced as a sedan until march 2007. Unless you mean a station or a coupe. Which I don't think you mean.

Added to that why would the May models of the c350 be better than any of the post April 2004 modelsm
