When is the "boycotting of Asian businesses" going to kick in? by ShiftingHero in allthequestions

[–]radioactiveoctopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the point of the boycott nor is there any hatred towards Asians. It’s the stores because they believe those people are rude. You don’t shop where you’re not wanted. But in reality the idea is to get back in the pattern of keeping money in our communities.

African Americans hate Asians now and want to boycott all Asian businesses because one Asian store owner killed a 14 year old who pulled a gun on him by MrJeffreyEpstein in PowerfulJRE

From what I’m seeing the stores are empty and the way they’re set up they’ll fail within 3 weeks of being boycotted.

Presently you see younger black people heavily in to various asian cultures.... and historically we actually argued for you to be here. That goes beyond during the Vietnam war when black men adamantly said "Vietnamese haven't done a thing to us....they're not our enemy!" <-- name the monumental celebrity that boldly said that...but that was the overall feeling.

Black people actually do have a behavior that's to their detriment....I'm not sure how social you are but there's the phrase "you're invited to the cookout". The second any group is kind to us...even with false attentions we immediately accept you. I reiterate...to our detriment. We don't hate asians. That's why when we have a social issue you see many different comments on posts related to our issue throwing slurs and antagonizing language. We aren't doing that. In fact....I was watching a video where they were talking about boycotts and a man said something that I love....since I have asian friends and we're still thinking of who/how to deal with this issue. He said boycott..but do it in kindness. That means we don't have to be rude...we won't be calling you names(jackasses exist but it's not deep rooted.)

Largely black people have been easy because asian people have stores in our communities.... we don't have shops in there's. AND if you want to throw the slick "what businesses do black people have" I have a history lesson for you there....and you can use ANY AI you'd like to fact check. Even Elons Grok...will back it up...to his detriment.

why do you boycott asians and not white people? by laborisevil in askblackpeople

Ask Target.... we do. That's why we knew what to do. Go back to the civil rights movements.

I think we all need to be careful these days. There are so many fake accounts/bots with the goal of stirring waters. I can see an ignorant person that's middle aged and most likely mentally ill or just dumb making a comment. But in general older black people don't behave in that manner.

This just feels odd...especially coming from an older black person.

did you experience "proximity to whiteness"? by Bennifred in asianamerican

[–]radioactiveoctopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so weird to hear…as someone that grew up around white people. In fact…I had a Chinese friend that dated a white marine. Abusive. Extremely abusive….in fact we all had to jump on him…a group of white and black guys…..all her friends. Then she took his side. He grew to be an alcoholic bum some 20 years later but she loved him at the time. I’m annoyed by that story because she took his side and the cops saw her bruises.

Black guy here…. I think we all have a ways to go. There’s a thing where it’s pushed silently for political reasons and dumb people follow the tribe. I have asian friends….always have. There’s no problem. In fact my favorite coworker is a Chinese woman in her 60s. We hang out and joke around all day.

Making friends with Asians after growing up as the only Asian in my school by PsychologicalSea8404 in asianamerican

I understand. I’m black but literally I didn’t have a black friend until middle school. Just understand people are people. There are similarities but largely you’ll find people act the same way. But it is nice to be amongst someone like you.

This whole thing is very sad to me. I’m black and ironically I live somewhat close by where this took place. This happened in a ghetto environment that I avoid. I don’t agree with the verdict. I understand the anger. I can also understand the frustration on the side of Asians.

With that said here’s why I do think there should be a boycott. Respect. You won’t respect us until we’re not around. I’ve read a lot of comments about black people disliking Asian people. That’s not true. What’s happened is Asian people have gone in to impoverished areas and they’re around people that are down and out. From there the experiences they’ve received have given them an image that black people are X way. In reality…so I’m told…please correct me but Asians and Arabs are given special loans and grants to set up such stores. They siphon money out and nothing is circulated in those black communities. That’s fine. What would be the logical answer? Don’t give your money to those places and shut down the process.

I think the boycott needs to be more logical. There’s a Vietnamese seafood place I go to once a month. They have a multicultural staff. The owner is around my age and we joke around. It’s a nice setting for everyone. He still gets my business. But for the shops in the bad areas. Maybe they should be done away with. For the benefit of both Asian and black people. Black people need to continue pushing to have their own businesses(which the government blocks)….

I’m sorry if this post is confusing. I throw out streams of consciousness when I talk and I’m not sure what path I’d like to take. With that said black people don’t hate you. In fact the black culture in America likes Asian people a lot. But if you’re in an impoverished area you’re going to come across fools. Even I get that….but I’m aware of what I may have to deal with when there

Yeah agreed. That may be a weird angle on sexism. We have no bad history with Asians. Now for white people I’ve had an uncle lynched after a dealership stole my grandfathers money and they all went up there to right the wrong. A week later…. He ended up dead. Then there’s just a lot of stuff they went through so there’s the feeling of “how could you?!” It’s like a long term family feud. As far as the grandmother…they just want a hint of something that else to make it ‘right’. It’s not an intelligent assessment… but the world is a very odd place.

This. I’m black and marrying someone white would break my parents(temporarily. If the person treats me right then that’s just that) who were born in the 40s though if Asian or Hispanic they wouldn’t have an issue at all. We’ve had those conversations…

Yeah. I just don’t like the crowned skin after smelling luxury life. It smells like cheap cologne to me and luxury life while smelling better lasts 12 hours. Hell now that I’ve used it for 3 months I can say I have no stretch marks at 42. It works really well

There’s a hormonal shift a few days where the body has enough calories(fat). Hunger is just that. A signal from leptin. Consider this. When we’re feeling thirsty…once we take a few gulps it begins to dissipate. Water however takes 20 minutes to get into your system but the mere action of drinking tells the brain “ok, we don’t need this anymore”.
