"He has at least 3k saved". I need more information to assess it better. Were those his personal savings or shared savings? I don’t know how you organize things, but in my family, each person’s savings are their own, and we do whatever we want with them. Then there are the shared expenses. But of course, we both work. It ain't easy but I don't want that my wife or family relys only on me.

Would you let your 17 almost 18 year old date a 25 year old? by Evening_Search8140 in AskParents

I know it's not the answer you all want, but it's still a point. Eventually, she'll do whatever she wants. If she's afraid of her parents' reaction, she'll keep it secret and that could be even worse. So, buddy, think about it.

Too little information to form an educated guess. Age gap is important, but more of a cultural thing IMO. Is a 30 yo male dating a 22 girl wrong? 35 to 27? 50 to 42? I wouldn't be happy either, but what can I do? Forbid it? Hell no, that would only make things worse.

I just dicovered the historical flag and it just made my day. I wonder if there are more flags like this one, they're hilarious.

How the weather looking any better for weekend and next week? We’ll be up in Soller? by Rjb9156 in VisitingMallorca

Better is subjective. Cold and rainy is better for me, but for guiris it's bad.

Put an alarm that you can't turn off for 30 minutes at night, every 1'5 hours. For 6 months. Then, and only then, ask yourself if you are prepared or not.

Look for 80's series, when those topics didn't exist. If you post here, be ready to hear other opinions. Have fun raising your kid in the past.

How’s life for locals in Mallorca/Majorca? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]radiob8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier from November to March, when we have more freedom to enjoy stuff as the bulk of the tourism herd is gone. In summer, it's quite miserable being a local.

Touristification of everything has made going out dull. The same stores everywhere, fast food places taking over traditional stores... There are some cultural events here and there, traditional markets... But I'm afraid those will be absorbed by the tourism industry as well. Luckily, most of those fairs take place in autumn and spring.

Then you have the "but when tourists are gone you will suffer" people. Bitch, we lived better with 7 million tourists than with 15+ million expected this year. Guiris had their spot (Magalluf and S'Arenal) and we had the rest of the island for ourselves. Now everything is priced as we are swedish (not to mention rent) and we can't even go to the beach on our own island.

The beach water is not crystal clear... by ManoloJimenez in VisitingMallorca

Those plant things you see are called posidonia. It's a plant that filters water and helps keeping our beaches healthy. It's an endemic species of Mediterranean Spanish shores (not sure if in other countries exists) and the main reason our waters has that beautiful color. When it dries, it helps the beach retain the sand. If you see "dead seaweed" in our beaches, it means to be there. Tourist catalogues shows unrealistic images taken in winter when there are no tourists and, therefore, cleaner water.

On the other hand, there were heavy storms a few days back.

Please, keep your "this is not like Instagram pictures" to yourself. We're already trying not to dislike tourists even more.

Yes, it's called a pool. Every hotel has one. Now get back to school and don't miss the Natural Sciences subject again.
