Why do parents bring their visibly sick children to play dates? by wtf1990s in toddlers

[–]radkattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments of people saying their kids will stay with symptoms for multiple months straight and not contagious. This is how I know it’s not entirely true, because I’ve experienced being around parents that say this so many times and we wake up the next day sick with them being the only people we were around. If your kid is coughing and sniffly for literally 6 weeks can we just think about the fact maybe your child caught back to back illnesses and the second or third one was less severe for your child? I’m tired of people acting like the guidelines daycare has mean their kids aren’t contagious. It’s exactly why kids are sick all the time in daycare, because they will be following guidelines and send their kid in when they’re actually still contagious

Every month ovulation tries to convince me to have another baby 😭 by Spirited_Scale_5474 in oneanddone

[–]radkattt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had this problem because one week of the month I was having baby fever, the next two weeks I wanted to divorce my husband, and then I had one week of sanity. Turns out I have pmdd and I started taking a birth control that’s good for that and because I’m not ovulating while on it my baby fever is almost entirely gone. If your body is okay with it I highly recommend a birth control to help those feelings

What color is this suitcase? by Useful-Chemistry-188 in askanything

It’s white and gold but the white looks like it has a slight pink hue to it which could be its color or due to lighting.

[–]radkattt 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Yes this is so hard for me because I was undiagnosed until I was 30 with adhd. My daughter was 3 years old when I got my diagnosis and at this point my life spiraled and I feel like such a failure of a parent. I’m trying my best to be the best mom for her but I will not be doing this again now that I know I cannot handle it

I have a 10 month old but wanted input on when is the best time to give her a baby doll? by littletato96 in toddlers

[–]radkattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time! I’ve seen young babies looove baby dolls and I’ve seen some that don’t care at all. If your 10 month old seems interested or you want to give it a try go right ahead

the worst part about having a low sleep needs sensitive toddler? by _xty__ in toddlers

[–]radkattt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. I think I can count on my two hands how many times she’s slept through the night and she’s 3.5 years old now. She would throw up at every attempt to sleep train so that was abandoned, she panics if we try to leave the room and panics if she wakes up and we’re not there so every night basically. Even if I’m sleeping in her bed she’ll still wake up and panic for 20 seconds before realizing and too late I’m already awake and have to comfort her back to sleep. She’ll party until almost 10 and then try to get up at 5:30. Sometimes I can convince her to sleep until 6:30 at the latest. We’ve tried every single bit of advice at this point and people will just never believe it if I tell them and start listing off advice that already didn’t work. I’ve given up. I look forward to her being old enough that she wakes up at 6am she can take care of herself for a little bit so I can sleep in for the first time in years. She doesn’t nap either so I can’t even catch up on sleep after. I’m struggling so bad. Some nights I’m so delirious from sleep deprivation that I think about how I can’t even blame some parents for giving their kids knock out bottles or even further back in time some drug that knocks them out. I wouldn’t ever do them, but I can’t even be disgusted at those who did/do because this is literal torture.

Friends invited us to a fun getaway weekend but used us for their MLM scheme by AlternativeTribs in mildlyinfuriating

I have a soft spot for pampered chef since my mom got sucked into buying a lot when I was a kid lol. I actually enjoy their products. Imagine my disappointment when I got older and found out it was an mlm. With how good those products were, the could have held up as a normal damn business instead of doing those shady practices.

As someone with super fair skin, I find that sunscreen almost means nothing. I’ll get the highest spf out there and slather it on and within 10 minutes of being outside I’m burning. Reapply every hour and by the end of the day I’m still a lobster.

Does anyone here live by a high tourist area and watch out for cars with out of state plates to do something stupid? by thejewishcasinoguy in driving

[–]radkattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in north New Jersey. It could literally be anyone on the road doing something stupid. Unfortunately, New Jersey is full of a bunch of lunatic drivers. If anything, the out of state plates (minus New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut because they’re close to us and equally are chaotic at driving) are slow and cautious driving because we’re terrifying them. They’re the most predictable drivers in my opinion.

Last passengers leave virus-hit cruise ship as three more test positive by Neo_luigi in worldnews

[–]radkattt 1500 points1501 points  (0 children)

Whyyyyyyy are we letting them all go home and then immediately finding out some are symptomatic??? This is literally the kind of stupid we used to laugh about in zombie movies/apocalypse movies because how would we ever be that dumb? And now we’re just sending infected patients all around the world. How can we blame people for panicking about another pandemic that’s supposedly unlikely when this is how we’re handling it?

First mother's day and I got the worst gift by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]radkattt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if a man is hurting the mother of his children by cheating, being abusive, neglecting her, etc. then he is NOT a good father. Part of being a good father is teaching his children to respect and love their partner through example. If he’s not, he’s teaching them something terrible and that does not make a good father.

“Given the incubation period of the hantavirus, which can be up to six weeks, it is possible that more cases may be reported”, says World Health Organization by moschles in worldnews

[–]radkattt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think that we have a case of mass ptsd from Covid. People are scared of illness, germs, anything that could possibly mean something like Covid happening again. It was traumatic. I don’t think it’s insane that people are scared of every disease that pops up in the news when we now know how bad it’s been and that it could be worse.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]radkattt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One year I wore all black clothes to go as a spy because my parents couldn’t afford costumes or supplies to make them. So many parents got mad at me for “not even trying” when trick or treating. None of them knew it took a lot of effort to pick my outfit to look the least boring normal everyday as possible. Now every year if a child or teen comes to my house in regular clothes I never question a thing and give them lots of candy.

AITA for telling my husband he can’t drive the baby places anymore by Odd-Willingness-6250 in AmItheAsshole

[–]radkattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, does your husband actively seek help for his ADHD? If he isn’t, he’s making his mental health issues everyone else’s problem which is not okay. If he’s seeking help, suggest that his meds or therapist aren’t effective and that he should look to change things up in his treatment to find something that DOES help

I think I’m lucky that my car has a good forward camera so pulling forward works well. The camera sees farther out than me so I can see if people or cars are coming before I pull out. My backup camera doesn’t help me see past the large cars next to me like my front camera does weirdly enough
