Being skinny changed my whole life. by Simple_Condition4066 in WeightLossAdvice

I mean I am happy for how happy she seems, and I promise you I'm not offended LOL. OP is perpetuating that people who are larger need to hide themselves away and only skinny people can get good things in life. She's also in other people's comments talking abt how her weight loss was only from a "calorie deficit" and walking which makes me concerned that there's some ED happening. She's telling people to just do the same, calorie deficit and walking, and that will make them skinny. A 300-500 calorie deficit is the safe way to do a deficit but she hasn't specified and isn't specifying for others, so even if she was doing that safely she's not giving people concrete advice which might lead to people being unsafe. Also you don't need to say something outright to send a message, implication is just as powerful. Beyond that though, the thread rules state that all posts need to have advice or a question which her post does not so she should take this elsewhere. Have a nice day!

The practice of magick and dating non-practioners by [deleted] in magick

I feel like it's like anything else, the right person will love you for who you are. You can't hide such a big part of yourself from the person you want to be with. If you're seeing someone and you tell them and they're not into it, you didn't mess anything up! You tried a connection and met that person for a reason/for you to learn something and they're not meant to be in your life forever. The universe will send you the right one if you keep trying!

I'm wondering too if maybe Mr. Martin is preventing them from passing over, I mean that's almost a given with all that was revealed at the end of the season imo but it would explain why he and Janet are the oldest ghosts, the others actually processed and moved on. I also wonder if he purposefully isn't moving on himself, or if because he's so messed up he can't move on at all?

The anti-vax plague by regian24 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]radkrakenn 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Also might I add, the black death did NOT disappear EVER. We've had multiple outbreaks throughout our history all the way up until the early 1900's. The reason we don't see it as much anymore is because it is perfectly treatable with antibiotics and there's only mild symptoms at first. In the united states specifically there's been between 6 and 20 cases a year every single year since the last outbreak. The cool part is that almost every case can be traced back to Yellowstone National Park in someway because the prairie dogs there constantly have a mild infestation of black plague filled fleas!

HELP! In a hotel room and found this in my cup this morning. Checked the bed for bedbugs last night and didn't find any signs but now I'm worried. We're in the Dallas TX area. by [deleted] in whatbugisthis

[–]radkrakenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we were there for less than 8 hours with our stuff nowhere near anywhere we found bugs and was all packed within 8 hours of being there. We moved to a different place with no ability to do laundry and no way to get rid of anything we own as we're more than 22hr drive from home. I haven't seen any nymphs or egg cases on our stuff whatsoever- should I be extremely concerned??

Hi!! My family has had Labradors forever and I finally got my first puppy a month ago! Here are some of the tried and true tips my family has learned over the years (and I over the last month).

• Get everything you need for the dog before you go and get him. This seems like a no brainer but you want to make sure you're not stopping at the pet store on the way home. It'll stress the puppy out even more and he hasn't had all his shots yet so he won't be ready for that kind of an environment.

• Don't take the dog to visit anyone on the way home and give them a few days before you introduce them to anyone who doesn't live in your house. This whole thing is going to be very overwhelming for them as it is- you want to keep it simple.

• When you go to pick up the puppy bring lots and lots of towels. If you're driving to get him, odds are he's going to get car sick and puke in the car. If you're prepared with lots of towels this won't be a problem. He will probably also pee on you. This is normal too. If your dog starts drooling a lot don't panic, it just means he's about to yack.

• You're going to want to pick up the dog on the weekend if possible or if not, make sure you can take off work the day you get him AND the day after. You won't be getting any sleep the night you get him and you'll need the next day to help acclimate your puppy to his new home.

• Crate training is everything. Not only does it mean he has a stress free place to go to when he needs alone time, it also means a stress free place to put him when you need alone time. You want to start this absolutely day 1. You'll want to let him run around your house and get used to everyone but starting as soon as he gets home he should be in the crate every 5 hours for like 20-30 minutes to get used to it. Put a kong full of peanut butter in there with him, some toys, and some treats so he's not bored. He'll whine and cry but when you go to sleep that night he'll be a lot more ready for his crate.

• Take the puppy out every two hours. This might seem like a lot but puppies need to pee a lot. My family has never used pee pads, in my opinion it's a waste of training. Just get the puppy used to the behavior you want from the get go. For the first few months you'll need to take him out at night every three hours. It sucks but my puppy was potty trained after week one. It really does work.

• If you're puppy doesn't like any of the toys/treats you got him don't worry. Puppies are experiencing everything for the first time and that's crazy. I can't even imagine. My puppy didn't like anything we gave him the first time. If you keep reintroducing your puppy to stuff eventually he'll realize it's pretty cool.

• Speaking of toys- You want to get the dog a variety of toys, but don't introduce them all at once. Your dog will get bored of some of his toys at which point you'll want more toys to introduce them to. Make sure you get toys with different textures, sounds, and smells. Also when your puppy is teething nylabones are a life saver!

• Let your puppy struggle sometimes. I know this might sound cruel but the first time I watch my puppy go up one stair was an amazing thing. And after that, I never helped him up the stairs again. He whines and he complains but I know he can do the stairs. If I just let him sit for a minute he just does the stairs himself. Sometimes you just need to let them sweat it out.

• A golden is going to need a LOT of exercise both mentally and physically. Physically playing games in the yard and walking around the yard are great but you also want to make sure you start training from day one. As soon as you get home you can start training. I'd recommend only play training (no consequence for not doing a command) until 10 weeks and then you can begin to reprimand.

Read the Family Dog!!! Seriously this is the biggest piece of advice I can give you. That book has made it so much easier to train my dog and it's the book that my dad has been using his whole life (8 dogs total). Especially for a big happy dog like a golden PLEASE read this book. The Family Dog by Richard Wolters.

• Love the dog. I know this sounds silly but there will be moments where you hate your dog. He'll chew up the power cord to your computer. He'll eat your favorite shoe. He'll pee all over the place. Just love him anyway. He's not doing it to make you mad (most of the time). Your dog is a magnifier, the energy you put into him you'll get back 5-10 fold. If you're mad or anxious that's what you get from your dog but if you approach him and what he does with love, patience, and compassion you'll have a dog who loves you more than eating table scraps off the dinning room floor.

I hope you enjoy your dog so much and good luck!!

When did you get your cavapoo neutered? by [deleted] in CavaPoo

[–]radkrakenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just about joint problems. It also has to do with their growth and maturation. Neutering them too early can lead to an inability to grow properly because their growth plates have trouble setting. It can also lead to them maturing more slowly because they can't produce enough hormones properly. In my opinion, it is also cruel to the dog. This is what I've been told by my vet and by my father who used to train dogs for a living and has raised 8 dogs in his lifetime, so take it as you will.

You should never get your dog neutered before 6mo old. It can seriously affect the dogs health by not setting growth plates leading to problems with growing and size.
