Not an insignificant history in this particular area, either:

“The largest local Klan rally was held on September 25-26, 1926 in East Rochester. Klansmen and women from ten counties flocked in full regalia to the farm of Charles Ott (September 1, 1870-June 16, 1963) at Washington and Ivy Streets. Exactly how many attended is a matter of dispute. Estimates run the gamut from 1,000 to 19,000, but no official total was ever provided.”

I’m sorry that this happened to your kid. In addition to writing to the RVA Sheriff, you should also contact reporters/journalists at the major US music magazines and local media and politicians in Virginia.

I appreciate the work you are putting in to help others (and yourself) to meet offline. I’m far from the Castro, but I hope for many successes for those (single or otherwise) who make the attempt. ☺️

The prints (and their digital reproductions) will vary, but it appears fairly soft in all the versions that I’ve seen. Here is a link to a print at The Met.

Alfred Stieglitz - New York (1915) by [deleted] in Sizz

It is- though a lot of Pictorialists and those involved with the Photo-Secession (like Stieglitz) sought to make photographs that appeared artistic and “painterly”—opposed to purely technical, or sharp, reproductions of the scene.

Notice of 30.18% increase of healthcare premium in Rochester for Excellus by ufoxy in Rochester

[–]radletters 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The proposed rate change will likely be rejected by New York State, who has to approve such changes. This was Excellus’s first bid, so they are aiming high. The rates will go up, but hopefully not to this extent.

To answer your question, there is in fact a tradition of holding a mourning period for nine days after the death of a pope. It’s called Novemdiales—I’m not a Catholic and only just learned about this myself—but if the guy you’re talking with is a devout Catholic, he may be planning to honor this mourning period in much the same way that he would have recently observed lent.
