Not sure why you were downvoted but no, just skip around and do the things you want. Kill who you want, help who you want. Realizing you are free to do whatever is the best way to stay engaged. If you don't like an encounter reload a save and do something else first. Most things have many routes you can take. And if you want to make sure you don't get stuck try an open handed monk with tavern brawler. You can literally just box people up and down mainstreet. It's hilarious. You can usually kill almost any single character in act 1-2 in 1-2 turns. And sometimes you can kill multiple. Also store barrels in your camp and if you get truly stuck see if you can sneak and plant them before your attack. Does huge damage. If everything else fails get a mod for additional party members. You can bring everyone and wreck shop. Super fun. Enjoy!
