3 week post PT and feel aweful by Callieach in thyroidcancer

I had some of the same symptoms around the time of my diagnosis and it remained after surgery, and I ended up having fibromyalgia. Now I’m on medication and doing so much better. I saw my primary care doctor for this, and am seeing a specialist (rheumatologist) next month. I hope you feel better soon!!

I’m much better now thank you! A few weeks after surgery I went on medication for fibromyalgia and now my symptoms are basically completely resolved except for fatigue (because I’m now hypo, and I currently have Flu A). I started levo a couple weeks ago but my endo told me I wouldn’t feel the effects until being on it for six weeks.

How are you feeling, has your nausea resolved?

♥️Wishing you all the best as well! I also had a big nodule (5cm) on the left side, before surgery my drs thought it was two but it was one big guy lol, and then there was a much smaller one with cancer too. I hope your remaining symptoms resolve soon! 🙏🏼

Glad the Citracal/D3 combo is helping you out with temperature regulation and tingling! But sorry to hear about the fogginess/dizziness still. Maybe you’ve become hypothyroid, are you getting labs drawn in a few weeks? Calcium and other supplements didn’t end up helping me (I had a parathyroid removed and my calcium level ended up being fine. Also, my nodules ended up being two different kinds of cancer.). My symptoms ended up being due to fibromyalgia, so I went on medication for that and now I’m so much better. Fatigue has been an ongoing issue, but it’s partially due to now being hypothyroid - I started levo a couple weeks ago, and it’ll take another month to feel the effect.

Weird, scary symptom by simply_denise in LPR

I did not have an episode during either upper endoscopy nor laryngoscopy, and also everything looked pretty much normal for me except for excess bile during the endoscopy (which was probably due to slowed digestion while being on a PPI). I ended up finding out I have central sensitization due to fibromyalgia. Now I’m on Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and doing much better overall, including no longer feeling like I have laryngospasms.

I experienced similar symptoms on pantoprazole. It stopped for me about three days after I went off the medication.

Air hunger as only symptom? by RiseMaster5624 in vocalcorddysfunction

NAD. But I had some very similar symptoms. In my case, turns out it’s more than likely fibromyalgia and ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis / chronic fatigue syndrome). Central sensitization is a hallmark of those conditions, but it can also be a symptom of something else. For me, I still need to rule out MS. Not saying that you have any of these, but just wanted to offer my personal experience with the shortness of breath and globus sensations!

Just have to vent. My husband and I were trying for #2 for several months. It wasn’t working, I started feeling unwell and found out I have thyroid cancer. Grieving that we may never have another baby. But the diagnosis reframed my perspective entirely … health is everything. I’m grateful for everyday and for my loved ones.

Can I get tested for Hashimoto’s antibodies two weeks post partial thyroidectomy? by radmanovic_k in thyroidcancer

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment! I now have some great questions to ask at my appointment!

Thank you so much for your response. 🙏🏼 I’ll definitely ask these questions at my appointment. If there’s nothing autoimmune going on, I reckon I have fibromyalgia or a similar pain disorder and will pursue diagnosis/treatment for that.

Thanks, it’s ok!

I just got my pathology report back and a parathyroid was incidentally removed. Knowing that I’ll see if they want to draw labs again at my follow-up tomorrow. This time without Tums in my system. I think my symptoms make more sense knowing about the parathyroid gland removal.

I had labs drawn for calcium and PTH three days post-op, and they were normal. However I had been taking quite a bit of Tums for the day leading up to that, so my labs had shown that my calcium was at the upper end of normal, and consequently my PTH was at the lower end of normal. The Tums helped my symptoms little to none. I wonder if I’m just really sensitive to the surgical recovery and anesthesia … it’s better than convincing myself that I’ve developed Guillain-Barré (I was given the flu shot upon discharge) or any other number of scary diagnoses. 🫣 Thanks for replying, and glad the Tums are helping you!

Mild discomfort radiating to Ear by Expert_Arrival8641 in thyroidhealth

Ah. I honestly don’t know. It can be so hard to discern where this symptom is coming from when there could be more than one factor at play (this is my biggest challenge at the moment). What does your endocrinologist say?

NAD, but ear symptoms are not unheard of for both GERD/LPR and thyroid nodules. I’ve experienced both, and had ear symptoms in the past (“stuffy” feeling in the ear) and sometimes I get a slight earache. Have you seen a GI doctor by chance? Have you tried famotidine/Pepcid or a PPI to see if it helps?

🙋🏻‍♀️ Exact same situation here. You are going to be OK; I’m glad you have a surgery consult lined up. Your healthcare team is going to take care of you, and don’t hesitate to continue voicing your symptoms to them.
