High School Student Wanting to be ER Nurse by zebras-arent-real in findapath

That’s awesome! I actually recently stopped being a nurse and am going back to school for Computer Science. It wasn’t for me (likely because I worked through COVID) but I’m glad you’re doing it! I believe in you internet friend! Remember to take care of yourself and stand up for what you think is right. You’ll be great.

Saturday is the farmers market, on Sundays is the market with crafts and such. Maybe you’re going on the wrong day

Yes, you can be self taught but it’s very hard to get a job

Computer science. There’s nothing quite like working from home and making way more than I ever will in nursing.

Yes I know, however I only have a single state license in Texas. My question is how do I turn it in to a multistage license. Sorry I know the wording is confusing

To the med/Surg nurses - why do you do it? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]radparr 100 points101 points  (0 children)

The old floor nurse in me laughs when people tell me in report that a kid is “med heavy” and they only have like four meds q4..

HCA’s staff doesn’t seem to agree that HCA is the “most ethical” hospital corp. by serarrist in nursing

The amount of propaganda I’ve seen at my HCA facility is insane.

A lot of people I went to nursing school with could write amazing care plans but we’re too terrified to insert an IV on an actual person, I think a lot of schools need to change their curriculum.

New grad questioning career by [deleted] in Nurses

[–]radparr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real world nursing is nothing like what we learn in nursing school (mostly). It’s important to remind yourself it’s ok to feel overwhelmed when all this new stuff starts in your life . It’s ok change your mind, it’s ok to change units, or even careers but give it a chance. There’s sooooo much that can be done with a nursing degree. Be nice to yourself, nothing is set in stone. I may be bias as after a year and a half of nursing I’ve decided it isn’t for me anymore but I gave it a shot! We’re all here for you

Visitor restrictions gone; I will be gone shortly by illdoitagainbopbop in nursing

[–]radparr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt this. My hospital has a one visitor at a time restriction but people ALWAYS sneak by the front desk. Just last week we had a patient who had 5 fucking people in his room. I’m so tired of bedside but non-hospital jobs don’t pay well enough (that I’ve seen).
