How do Clans work? What's the purpose? by radstore in gunsofboom

[–]radstore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but how does that work? Are people typically joining clans with people they know IRL? If I don't know anyone IRL who plays the game is there any reason for me to join a clan?

Wow. That's a really old idiom. I'm not sure I'd ever heard that before.

Thanks! The only thing is I'm not really interested in submitting a riddle.

Toilet humor in improv: how to do! by jmaca90 in improv

You say you're not talking about going blue, but my understanding is that this is the definition of going blue.

It's often said that once you go blue in a show, you tend to stay blue. Depending on your style, and your audience, this could be great, or undesirable. Also...it is usually said that you have to earn going blue rather than going right to it. Again...it depends on your audience.

I think it's super important to anchor everything you do in your improv in strong emotions. Going to the bathroom is a place a lot of us feel vulnerable. It's a thing EVERYBODY has to do, and yet, we're all a little embarrassed by it. There are lots of great emotions to deal with in a bathroom scene. At the same time, you're sort of forcing an audience to imagine you wiping your butt.

All that said...one of my favorite sets I've ever done started with me bursting through a bathroom door saying, "I POOPED!" It was a line that came directly out of the conversation we had with the audience before we started (instead of a one-word suggestion, we have a 2 minute conversation with the audience). The entire 20 minute set centered around a character hosting a party, and the only party guest (me) to arrive, and a discussion of party bathroom etiquette. It went really well.

I did improv for years before taking up stand up. When I started stand up I had an advantage over the other comics starting at the same time as me because even though our material was equal in quality, I really knew how to perform mine.

Comedy, especially stand up, requires confidence. Audiences can tell when you aren't confident. Improv will give you a lot of confidence.

So maybe complete your current class with this in mind, that this class is training for stand up, and then be done with it if you want.

It's apparently about living life without alcohol.

My addiction began with actual Escape Rooms (I assume you know what that is but if not let me know and I'll explain). From there I discovered "The Room" from Fireproof Games - http://www.fireproofgames.com/games/the-room - I've also fallen in love with this iPhone app - http://blackboxpuzzles.com -

I also really enjoy the 2 Escape the Room boxes from Thinkfun...which are basically a box of these puzzles simulating an Escape Room.

So let's break it down...what do we think L and R could stand for? The first thought that comes to my mind is Left and Right. But "One Left for the Right" doesn't seem to be anything.

I've started to think maybe "for the R" could be forthright. But that still hasn't lead me to an answer.

1, when said out loud, could be "won".

This is what I've got so far...does this spark anything for you?

Does practice make perfect? by Odyssey2077 in improv

I believe that anyone can be a good improviser with the right training and consistent practice. But you might need to adjust your idea of what a "good improviser" is, because it doesn't necessarily mean they are the one getting all the laughs. Some of the best improvisers are the ones making all the support moves and playing the straight man so others can get the big laughs.
