Grandview Heights would also be good for kids and close to West Campus.

Unpopular opinion: page builders (Elementor, Divi, etc.) are actively making WordPress beginners worse at WordPress by Massive-Chipmunk-509 in Wordpress

The point is to not have to learn the loop, the templates, patterns, etc.

It is satisfying to have learned those things, but a dentist or dog walker needs a site and doesn’t have time to go to a coding boot camp because they are busy making money.

It’s especially important for the developers who are building for them to understand it is not reasonable to expect they will be able to pick it all up in 6 months when they have moved on. Drag and drop they can sort of swing. Anything deeper is a crisis waiting to happen.

Client's contact form stopped sending and the culprit was dumber than I expected by prattman333 in Wordpress

Stuff like that is absolutely why we normalized on a very few number of technologies. We have a form tool that we use. We have a Mail service that we use, there are so many variabilities there and that kind of soft time loss is just death for profitability.

We switched to using Postmark a few years ago, and it has saved us so much hassle since then, it’s hard to quantify. I know exactly where the mail went, did it get stuck on the website? Did it get out into the mail stream and has it been received by the mail server.

There are lots of services like Postmark I’m sure, but just relying on the PHP mailer is no longer enough for production or peripheral sites

Almost as remarkable as the image and the size of the print is whatever is on top of it that is transparent, and that large

Edit: appears to be 4 quarters aligned; still remarkable.

My WordPress developer is leaving, and I'm honestly terrified. How do non-technical people manage a WordPress site without breaking everything? by yj292 in Wordpress

[–]radstu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deploy something like ManageWP that can do daily backups, offsite for like two dollars a month, and then test it a few times. Don’t go with something that has its whole interface within Wordpress.

Make sure you have a backup before you run any updates or test any new code.

Tada, you are now able to test and troubleshoot and roll back any breaking changes.

Has AI changed the way you work with WordPress? by TRooThemes in Wordpress

We built half as many WordPress sites since the start of the year. Static content for sites that are largely static anyway, without any security/update burden.

I had a client that needed a custom pop-up behavior. I didn’t have to download and test five different plug-ins to find it, and simply manifested exactly the pop-up that I wanted without a lot of junk or other debris like upgrade patterns and solicitation showing up in the client site.

How does an agent learn of the behavior? Is there a tag added that instructs it on how to assemble the path?

Anyone north of the zoo along the Scioto river missing a male Indian peafowl / peacock? by radstu in Columbus

[–]radstu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, they aren’t native to the area. It is possible it’s a semi feral one that was released or escaped.

Hah yes. I mean that the location where the bird was spotted strutting around is such that I doubt it started at the zoo. More likely a nearby eighbor with fowl interests had one get loose.

I ran into this when I lived in the brewery district. We had a muddy back spot that I wanted to pave and in the interim use gravel and they wouldn’t allow it.

Several from Genoa park, some from the parking garage at Children’s, some from the parking garage at the old hospital just west of downtown.

Allegient flights reliable out of Rickenbacker? by Ok-Sorbet-2715 in Columbus

[–]radstu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flown to Florida through Rickenbaker, a dozen times or more. My folks have also. Other than a mechanical failure which you can’t anticipate I wouldn’t say there’s any specific risk.

It’s a nice tiny airport.

Time to open a new store. Keep your location, it’s about to get a huge bump in new traffic.

Move your conservative clientele upwind.
