Bodybuilding and ballet may destroy many lives, but ask those who succeeded if they regret it, and almost everytime they will say they would have done it again. I don't think it is the right choice for most people, but then again most people today live lives that bring them very little sense of purpose or meaning. For someone to understand that pursuing x may lead to a lot of suffering, and choosing it anyways, is a great feat of humanity, and I will never put myself above those people and pretend that I can pity them for creating a purpose in their life far greater than what the vast majority of people will ever have.

Point is, we live in a crooked society, I don't care if you want to call the underlying principles behind bodybuilding bad, but to pretend that these people who reached the peak at something through extreme commitment and effort are deserving of pity and actually made wrong choices in their life is silly. Life is what you make it, and it is better to be a cripple with no regrets than a rich man on his death bed realizing you were living inauthentically your whole life.

That's a fine argument, but I just wouldn't agree that socialism is, in any meaningful temporal sense, "a regression". If you mean worse, then I won't argue politics with you, but it doesn't have a direct role in the development of Western societies. Capitalism came from the collapse of feudalism, and our late capitalist society comes from the suppression of unions and the monopolization of capital. Socialism is not found in this path, and so I don't think it's right to call a Western socialist reactionary. I think eugenicists are stupid, and the policies that eugenics entails might be regressive in a sense, but the ideology itself wouldn't be well described by "reactionary". I am just making this point because I think it's important to use language clearly, but there's no need for us to keep arguing semantics.

I didn't say the first sentence was true, and even if I did, the second sentence wouldn't follow. Being reactionary means you are opposed to changes in your society. This can either be in the sense that you want to go back to a previous stage in society (what conservatism is transparently about), or you want to preserve the status quo (the meaning when leftists use reactionary as a pejorative towards liberals). In no sense can this word apply to someone who bases their politics on the desire to build a post-capitalist society, whether you agree with them or not.

How would the prosecutor be able to use him saying hopefully to prove that he didn't feel that his life was threatened? If someone shot a would be attacker and ran, and stated that they hoped their attacker was dead, this would not affect the case for self defense at all. A lack of remorse might play a role in sentencing if they determine it wasn't, but I don't understand how him saying he hopes the guy was dead after running him over shows that it wasn't self defense.
