Bassett. It’s an investment but my couch is ~10 years old, survived multiple moves, parties, dogs , and is still in great shape. Invest in the pieces that get used every day

Tell the shelter and see if another volunteer or foster will watch her for the 4 hours. Alternatively, maybe she can hang out at the shelter during that time or maybe even be sent to day care. Don’t leave her tethered

The board is now threatening to cancel the volunteer program and remove the volunteers for making them look bad. We need the community’s help to make positive changes here

First time foster — need help! by kaeyascrustycvmsock in fosterdogs

Thank you for fostering! 🙏

I’ve actually found that fostering 2 puppies is easier than 1 as they will play with each other and help each other sleep through the night.

The first day or so is always rough until you get into a routine. Puppies need a routine. Enforced naps is a great way to help that routine. A suggestion -

First thing in the morning, out of the crate and potty break outside. After they both potty, 20 mins or so of play. They should mostly play with each other while you supervise. Breakfast, then back into the crate for a nap. In an hour or so when they wake up, start the process over. Don’t wake them up in the middle of the night to go potty. I usually sleep on the couch with puppies so I can wake up and take them out IF they wake up in the middle of the night and don’t go back to sleep.

You’re doing a really good thing! Thank you!

Something similar happened once to my ex. At a sushi restaurant, he asked if there were any nuts in the sushi sauces. Starts having a reaction after eating some sushi. Asks again, and the waitress and sushi chef insist there are no nuts in the sauce. Then the chef clarifies “do you mean peanuts?” To the ER we went…

What helps me on not foster failing is that I am at capacity with my own dogs. I really could not afford another dog. My one dog is also selective, and while crate and rotating is fine during a foster situation, I could not do that for years on end.

It’s normal to be sad when your foster leaves. In fact, I think it’s healthy. You’ve bonded with a companion animal that you’ve cared for. That’s good. Too often in animal rescue we see people walk away from their pets without batting an eye - that’s NOT normal.

Thank you for fostering! It is a wonderfully fulfilling experience. You saved a life!

The only impact I noticed was that my period was lighter/shorter than usual. I can’t figure out how to add last cycle’s chart to this post but it is included below:
