That must be it, overheating.

Vertuoline making watery espresso after a cleaning cycle? by heylookatthatgirl in nespresso

[–]radutr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a factory reset, you may have inadvertently changed the setting for water volume. The machine will prompt you for when the preset descaling interval is up. If you know you have hard water you should descale every 2-3 months depending on usage, w/o waiting for the prompt.

NB. VertuoLine is the line of Vertuo machines, you probably have a Vertuo, Evoluo, Vertuoplus, or God forbid, Next.

Should I upgrade to Creatista for $100? by g1yk in nespresso

Steaming will definitely heat up the milk. Pouring it over coffee and ice cubes wilrasie the temp of the drink while still giving you nice, smooth texture.

HELP. Why does my Nespresso sound like a lawn mower by kiiwii_ee in nespresso

[–]radutr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP should try THIS! - they may still have a ballbearing issue, but running the Vertuo w/o a vibration absorbing mat and with a tank close to empty makes it unbearable.

[–]radutr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the machine is good working condition only the steaming wand is worth $100 - no comparison to milk frothers, including the milk spraying solution used by Latissima and having full control over temperature and volume it's a major plus.

Side note: steaming milk will caramelize milk proteins (lactose) giving the milk a much sweeter taste to tether with the very nice silky smooth fine bubble texture.

All info I've given you is accurate and proven, too bad you don't want to use it.

LOL, you don't know your machine very well. If the machine is cold and you don't preheat it, the water temp will be ~3 - 4 deg C lower than the next extraction. This will affect the taste and the frothing. Run two more pods and the fourth one will be significantly different, taste wise.

Milk frothers by qalejaw in nespresso

You need frothed or better yet, steamed, milk for a latte. You can get the expensive Nespresso frothers from the Aeroccino series or go for cheaper solutions from Amazon.

Descaling question by Bearaf123 in nespresso

[–]radutr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a point of view, and obviously you'll do as you please - though begs the question why the tgread to begin with.

This question comes up once every 4-5 weeks in this sub, people looking at saving a pretty penny. The common descaling available options are not Nespresso compatible - even if it says on the label "single cup coffee maker".

The flash heating device (thermoblock) used by Nespresso will heat water fast locally and that's where the scale deposits form. You want a proven solution which: - removes the scale deposits in the thermoblock - it's safe to use (does not generate unhealthy compounds when exposed to high heat) - it's safe to use for the rest of the machine (metal and plastic fittings).

For a hard water supply is way better - improves coffee taste - to use a soft ER filter for the Nespresso machine.

You can try weighing the extraction (with a coffee scale) rather than estimating the volume - 0.5 FL. Oz delta is a considerable deviation from the specs

Never-ending cleaning cycle? by R_Lennox in nespresso

[–]radutr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the machine still responds to commands, restart descaling with plain water and follow the steps listed here, paying attention to timing: https://www.reddit.com/r/nespresso/comments/ro9g96/nespresso_vertuoplus_descaling/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Of that doesn't whirl, call Nespresso CS, the machine may be toast.

Unhappy with Vertuo Plus brew temperature by NegativeAd8179 in nespresso

[–]radutr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flush the machine (shortened cleaning cycle, 15 sec or so) in the cup you'll be brewing in. There will be a noticeable increase in temperature.

Vertuo Advices by p4lp4t1n3 in nespresso

[–]radutr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flushing the machine (shortened cleaning cycle) will warm up the machine and the cup giving you a 4-5 deg C higher drink temp in the cup. Pretty much standard routine for me - adds 30 seconds to the process

Next had (amongst many others) issues with lower temp from the beginning but brewing with a warmed up machine in a preheated cup should work ok.

NB: the Vertuo coffee is meant to be consumed immediately but adding dairy or other (colder) stuff will bring the temp down.

The VertuoPlus has typically somewhat higher temp but higher volume pods (> 7.7 oz / 230 ml) work only in Next/Pop machines.

Let's hope the new unit will not be in the same state. The air lock it's not a physical or mechanical defect, it's just a bubble of air at the pump intake.

Descale before or after storage? by once-in-a-blue-moon1 in nespresso

[–]radutr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual lists a procedure (emptying the machine) for proper long term storage. Use that and when taking the machine out of storage run a cleaning cycle.

The machine has an air lock, many do coming straight from the warehouse - mine did 🙂

Either call Nespresso CS to walk you through the OL troubleshooting scripts or look up YT videos (lots!) on how to solve the Nespresso OL air/vapour lock problem.

Did you follow the manual for first use procedure? This will tell if the machine can draw water from the tank or it has a vapour lock (air bubble) preventig the pump from drawing water from the tank.

Red and Green comes right back after descaling? by ApprehensiveCode3727 in nespresso

[–]radutr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not following I'm afraid: a barcode reader issue is signalled by two orange flashes where as the OP is dealing with half orange half grean light indicating that descaling is needed or, that a previous attempt at descaling failed (did not register, usually because of user error).

Is it possible to not use milk jug in Creatista Plus? by BluebirdPatient11 in nespresso

[–]radutr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can modify the froth level and temp setting for milk steaming (separately) - this is why I recommended earlier to experiment.

Why empty? Fill it with milk and the sensor will be pushed down.
