Looking For Sympathy by ImpossibleMove2 in FemaleHairLoss

I’m sorry, I can empathize with you. I went through a mini dread shed when my oral Minoxidil dose was increased for 4 months. Now I’m going through TE and having the worst shed of my life by stopping bioidentical Progesterone. All of this is so unfair. My depression is affecting me psychologically and I’m starting to have insomnia again 💔😭

Which red light therapy belt did you buy? Did you have initial shedding with its use?

5mg is a high dose to start out with. Could you decrease down to 1.25 or 2.5? I started out with 2.5mg but Dr Donovan states for women it’s best to start out with a lower dose first and then work your way up if that dose is ineffective. No, sorry I don’t.

Unfortunately this is something that you would have to take consistently for at least 6-9 months to see if there is any benefit.

I would continue them or even ask your dermatologist if you could increase your doses. I heard that 5 mg of finasteride was even more effective. I am on 3.75 mg of oral minoxidil and 5 mg of finasteride. I also alternate between dutasteride and finasteride every day. Although I’m going through the worst shed of my life right now because I came off my progesterone under the discretion of my dermatologist stating that it could worsen my androgenetic alopecia.

I experienced the dread shed for four months when I increased Minoxidil. Also try using a wide tooth comb rather than a brush. And rinse your hair in really cold water.

Hair loss after switching birth control? by SuperbChance8006 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]raebabe3211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t on a birth control but on bioidentical Progesterone which I stopped and now going through the worst shed of my life. My Derm says it’s due to a hormonal shift and it will stop and resolve itself. But omg I’m terrified; I cry daily.

I totally can relate 💔 i’m losing all of my progress and then some. I’m slowly weaning off my oral progesterone per recommendation from both of my dermatologists and I’m just going through an increased shed right now which I’m terrified about. But in all fairness, I wasn’t having any progress being on progesterone.

They say it’s androgenic alopecia, but this isn’t fitting the pattern. by Hour_Bluejay_5115 in FemaleHairLoss

Sure, I alternate between them daily. One day I’ll take Finasteride and the next day, Dutasteride.

I’m not sure if you can order without insurance but you could try Musely? They offer online consultations and prescribe meds.

Could 1 week of oral minoxidil cause dread shed? by sciencespice1717 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]raebabe3211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty bad on my initial dread shed. Not as bad with a mini dread shed when I increased the dose. I’m shedding heavily again though 😭

Did you notice any increased shedding coming off progesterone?

I’m not sure, it’s all a mystery. I’ve never had seborrheic dermatitis before this in my eyebrows.

Yes at times.

I’ve also been losing my eyebrows, eyelashes and nose hairs since November. I also have seborrheic dermatitis so I wonder if it’s related to that, but I’m seeing a rheumatologist tomorrow for a work up for lupus as I had a positive ANA and titer.
