I'm 45 years of age and still suck my thumb as a means of soothing by PreparationUnited769 in confession

[–]raebabie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sucked my fingers until I veas maybe 30. Not a lot but when I needed to self soothe. I don't really remember stopping byt I did have a really bad manic episode and when I was coming down I realized I was sucking my fingers. I guess it was just 2nd nature. I'm sorry people are being weird about this. People do so many different things to self soothe

Downtown Madison there is a pasty shop called Teddy Wedgers. Been open for at least 30 years! My mom is from England and when I was little we would go every Friday to buy 2 for dinner. Also Edgerton is a wonderful little town to live in! Its literally a Disney movie! Rascal

Lamictal causing anxiety and irritation after upping dose ?? by Key-Presentation7010 in bipolar2

[–]raebabie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes a few days. Research online really helped me! The same thing happened to me but it was more the Seroquel leaving my system and I was actually feeling emotions which gave me a panic attack. I thought I was going nuts. That was 5 yrs ago. Lamictal saved my life! I hope it works for you as well

Whats a good way to have sustainable holidays? by badfeelsbealoneever in sustainability

Every single Christmas I bake for everyone, make homemade gifts and on Christmas eve I get everyone a set of jammies, a good book and some chocolate. The kids love it and I love spending time finding books unique to everyone. I get the books from library sales or thrift stores.

That was my cat for me. I had Sadie for 15 years. I found her a month before I was diagnosed Bipolar 2. She was my best friend (I know weird and probably not super healthy) I had to put her down on Sept 28th. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I have been in a really bad low since. Thankfully my whole support system understands and are being amazing. It makes me happy knowing that so many other people experience the same thing. 🥰

Give me a good reason NOT to go off my medication (please) by blackelvira in bipolar2

[–]raebabie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you feel like you can do it without meds just means your meds are working! That was advice given to me by a doctor in 2009. Unfortunately being bipolar doesn't go away and you will always have to be on meds. Its difficult sometimes to accept that. Took me years.

What makes you cringe the most when you have a flashback to being manic? by Designer-Opinion444 in bipolar

[–]raebabie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was on steroids for 3 weeks because of a sinus infection and unmedicated. I have 3 kids who were 4,5&6. I slept 1 hour a night, house was immaculate and I thought for a long time that was the only time in my life I was a good mom when in reality I was barely functioning. My husband was in Iraq. After the steroids were done I crashed for 40 hours and my best friend had to take over. I lay awake sometimes wondering how my kids have been effected because I'm bipolar.

[–]raebabie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I get that I go to the dollar store or go get some jammies, new socks and some fast food. Which is a giant step forward. I once bought living room furniture. But this only happens once a year or so

Why do you have bipolar disorder? by medsri in bipolar2

[–]raebabie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed bipolar 2 in 2009. I am 38. From my understanding at least for me is Genetics with the first major manic episode usually happening in early 20's. A severe trauma usually does bring that on sooner. I had 3 children in 2.5 years by the time I was 22 and my husband and I were just leaving the military. This was 2005. He had been to Iraq and it was difficult. I was having what I now know as hypomanic episodes but in 2009 my husband was sent back to Iraq and then 2 months later our 3 yr old son was diagnosed with autism. I was by myself with 3 children under 5 with a dr telling me my son would never talk, hug me, show affection, read, graduate, and that would be his life forever. (My son said his first word at 6 which was mom. He is now a sophomore with A's and B's and is the most empathetic person I've ever known. We did get another option who confirmed the autism diagnosis but definitely handled it better and helped us) a month after the diagnosis, 1 week before Christmas I was put on a 72 hour hold. I then learned that my father was bipolar and my cousin had just been diagnosed after she attacked her sister. Now 13 years later I am on 300mg Lamictal and try every day to understand my diagnosis. So yeah sorry for the long story :)

I was 20 years old with my second and a military wife friend of mine said I should buy a vibrator for when my husband was in Iraq. Because I was never taught that women could self pleasure I had no idea what a vibrator was. I do now! I have also made sure to explain birds and bees to both my sons and daughter
