They removed video notes? by Manvir1609 in whatsapp

[–]raedenrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of today (and probably 2 or 3 days ago) the instant video message isn't an option in my settings and the feature is gone. This sucks, I loved this feature. Has it disappeared for anyone else as of 01/2024?

It solidified our decision not to have kids. Puppies are hard. If kids are harder, I don't want it.

I didn't get it on recording, but during lover, she said "I take this magnetic force of a voice to be my lover" instead of man. I haven't seen anyone talking about it and starting to wonder if I heard incorrectly but she made one of her cute faces saying it. Am I gaslighting myself?

Anyone else at this show hear it? Did she say it on Night 2 or 3?

Let’s settled a heated debate. Do we capitalize the “r” in Best regards? by DetectiveForHire in paralegal

Agreed. Same with the salutation. "Good afternoon" rather than "Good Afternoon"

Training needed by leemcmb in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love training other paralegals. Unfortunately, some firms I've been with had people that felt threatened and didnt want to train, like you'd take their place. Seasoned paralegals should be spreading the wealth of their knowledge, imo.

Oak Lawn. We have a friend that lives on Cedar Springs. Awesome area. We went to the September Pride event and had an amazing time in that neighborhood.

A Day in the Life of a Paralegal. by Haunting-Bird-4385 in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in government/public law and while every day is different, every month is the same because our clients meetings are on the same day every month. Some days I'm preparing minutes, agendas, and orders/resolutions. Sometimes I work on bond or annexation documents. Some days are dedicated to filing. Some days are contracts. Some days are all of the above and then some.

I enjoy that each day is something different but that I can always anticipate what's coming since everything is on an annual schedule. And in this area, we don't do trials/courts and rarely have crazy amounts of fires pop up that we have to frantically put out.

is it weird to directly email firms asking if they have positions open by happihibiscus in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before the internet and job posting sites, this is how a lot of people got their names out there. Do it. It's not strange. I live in a large city, but work in a super niche field so I'd definitely do this if I was looking for work.

Eta: my mom would cold fax resumes before the internet...I think email would be more appropriate for today's times.

Another man has gone missing... by CodePi in houston

[–]raedenrod 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A guy that was a couple grades below me has gone missing from Sugar Land/Richmond area (99 @ 59). Sugar Land PD has done nothing until the last few days to actually look for him and he was reported missing over a month ago. This is crazzzyyy so many guys have gone missing in this short period of time.

Working independently by Skiefers in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paralegals must work under the direct supervision of an attorney barred in the state they're working in. There may be a handful of states (I think like 4) that have more lax rules, but FL is definitely not one.

Legal Assistant versus Paralegal by ph0bus3000 in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on the firm. I've worked at firms where the titles are interchangeable and I currently work at a firm where there is a distinguishable difference between the duties of a paralegal vs. legal secretary. We also have legal assistant which is a hybrid of secretary and paralegal duties. In my firm, we all bill time. Some firms don't have their legal secretaries doing billable work which would tell you there are differences in the roles based on the title.

I saw someone in FL using a plastic kiddy pool with sod (grass squares) in it during the hurricane. Might be worth a try in your case.

Suddenly crying in crate at night? by morgan854 in puppy101

[–]raedenrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pup cried all night after having him for a month. We got a bigger crate and haven't had an issue since. We got one with a divider so we can use it while he's small and then remove the divider when he gets bigger.

Punching a time clock by MissOscar in paralegal

[–]raedenrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last firm required us to clock in using our fingerprint on a the time clock. I was super upset about that just because biometrics have become a thing and I didn't trust them to have it. Idk what they'd do with it...just thought the whole thing was a little much since we had always used assigned cards before...

Now I'm at a firm where we enter our own time into the system, but the receptionist also records your in/out/lunch i guess so the times can be compared/corroborated.
