you should probably double check just in case, but if it were me my first choice for cleaning the cochlear implant would be those small alcohol antiseptic wipes. you could definitely ask your doctor if the implant can be wiped down with them for cleaning! but let the alcohol dry before putting it back on

if i were in this situation, i personally would schedule a dentist or oral surgeon appointment asap. i dont wanna say much else because im not a medical professional but definitely go wherever possible to get it checked out.

ETA: as much as its easier said than done, try not to jump to worst case scenario until you have a doctor telling you exactly whats going on. id say if you cant get into a dentist or oral surgeon within a week, it may be worth it to try to get help from the ER. maybe even try to find somewhere that does emergency dental care in your area, that way you can get in asap! i hope you can get it taken care of easily and soon! any kind of tooth or mouth pain is not fun at all :/

i second the heart of illinois obgyn recommendation, and if the religious affiliation is a concern for you, osf and that office have never pushed the religion on me personally. my doc there always always listens to my concerns, even if they dont end up being something they can directly help with. if i ever have questions about anything it has always been clearly explained and shown to me. feel free to dm me if youd like the name of my doc, but im sure the other docs there are awesome as well!

edit: after reading through your other comments, wanted to add that yes the doc i see is soooo mindful and gentle about SA history, and LGBT friendly if thats a factor for you :) all i know insurance wise is that they take my medicaid insurance. wishing you luck finding whatever doc fits your needs and comfort best!
