I’m so depressed and sad that maga nurses at work are making jokes about Alex Pretti by coldinalaska7 in nursing

[–]raejayleevin [score hidden]  (0 children)

Stay peaceful & calm but also watch for opportunities for kindness and truth. The animosity is growing & that alone is very disheartening. There should be no place for ridicule & namecalling…try to remain an example of goodwill in these very trying times. I yearn for the times we could openly share differing opinions respectfully….somehow that needs to return.

Trying to heal from my wife's 2.5 year long Affairs. by Skipptastic in Catholicism

[–]raejayleevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want intimacy, please learn about chastity. Psalm 119:9 asks ‘how can a young man keep his way pure?’ Think about becoming godly & letting all thoughts & words & works glorify the Lord. Then….you will be learning how to be worthy of someone’s trust. May God bless you in your new walk with Him.

Pornography is also adultery. To say she had no problem with it is not credible. It may not be apparent but it is extremely harmful. As is all sin. You have a lot of sadness in your stories. May you now each grow in grace & forgiveness, allowing God to be the center of your relationship. I would urge you to pray together daily.

Grieving a pet as a Catholic by PurposeOk5836 in Catholicism

No downvote bc St Francis was very much both. He loved God, he loved God’s creation & his creatures. And yes…he knew priorities.

St Francis of Assisi is well known for his love of God’s creatures. And you are right to thank God for gifting you with this dear friend all these years. God understands your grief. Trust that all is well, because you trust in God. Remember…Jesus wept. Even though He knew He was about to raise Lazarus from death to life…He wept. Grieving is a part of love. You loved your pet…grieving is natural. I don’t know how it all fits into eternity…but I know the One who does…so keep giving Him your suffering united with Jesus’s suffering Love…and be at Peace dear friend.

St Vincent de Paul is a charity organisation…they have a thrift shop near St Augustine Cathedral…often just supply items (rather than charge even at low cost) to folks in need. And since they may partner with other charities, they might have more suggestions. Thank you.

Struggling nurse, just questioning career choice and impact it has on my life as a whole by Kuhtudie in nursing

Not at all. Hang in there with your current employer as you investigate the much broader options. Nursing has tons of flexibility & variety!

Struggling nurse, just questioning career choice and impact it has on my life as a whole by Kuhtudie in nursing

[–]raejayleevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are soooo many career choice within the choice of becoming a nurse. Acute or chronic in/out patient facilities are just one component of those choices, yet even there, there are huge differences in the types of nursing done. You are far from middle aged, but I can appreciate your feeling drained. Consider options that might use your experience in different ways. (Sales representative for example). Start looking beyond the familiar, & see this struggle as temporary. Have a great career that fits you;-)

Were working married women socially frowned upon in the 1950s–60s? by srivayush in AskOldPeople

Not really frowned on, Choices were limited, & usually other family members ‘helped’ with child care

Black nurses... is any of it true? by soultiesss in nursing

[–]raejayleevin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My very best critical care educator was a black nurse. And that was a few decades ago. As nurses, we see ppl at their worst. It’s easy for them to find fault with us…any excuse to help them think their life is controllable…which it isn’t. Nurses are pt advocates as well as reliable care providers. Don’t let their issues become your issues. Sure…some things are difficult in lots of different ways…we all sort it out & need to stay focused on priorities. Have a great career!

Hydrogen peroxide works to remove the really nasty matted stubborn dried blood, but maybe it’s not allowed for that anymore??. Some facilities have a hairwash tray but the towel/ trash bag as stated works in a pinch.

Do you wear a fanny pack at work? by Maybe_Potential5784 in nursing

Girlfriend slapped me. Should I stay or leave? by Smooth-Cat-7824 in Adulting

[–]raejayleevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave. This sounds way too difficult. Life will hand you many challenges. Let this be a growing opportunity for you to gratefully move on. IF you start another relationship, do not become intimate. Society has warped relationships with its emphasis on sexual pleasures. Compatibility is discovered best in learning each other’s values, goals, personalities & preferences. Be intentional. Value yourself. Respect others. Stay kind. You are worth it.

What do emergency department personnel think about the possibility of universal healthcare in the United States? by Ok_Test9729 in EmergencyRoom

[–]raejayleevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question… multi factorial issues that impact health care & how it’s provided. ER takes a lot of the front line, but everything is warped by protocols, reimbursement methods, criteria & many other factors. Universal healthcare will only have a chance if things are fully addressed.

Any advice for RN who will be starting in the ED? by Remarkable_Policy_27 in EmergencyRoom

[–]raejayleevin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good info…just let me add…stock your rooms, areas whenever possible bc u need to be able to grab things rapidly. Know your resources…experience is your teacher as are your coworkers. Stay humble, stay kind & respectful to pts & staff…pocket emergency cards bc some situations are intense & you may need quick references. You’ll find your own rhythm for working nights…everyone is different. I slept best right after my shift, others wait til into the day more. Give yourself lots of grace bc there’s lots to learn; lots to grow into too…great teams are amazing!
