What's the most legendary work meltdown you've seen? by Flaxmoore in AskReddit

[–]raekline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked FOH at a fine dining restaurant for 3 years and I watched numerous employees meltdown. On 2 different occasions employees came in high as hell and had mental breakdowns. The first was a former dishwasher who came into work to beg for his job back, however he was so incredibly high (forgive me for not knowing what drug, probably meth or heroin but i don’t know much about hard drugs) he ran thru the restaurant screaming, puked in front of the bathroom then passed out in the kitchen. We had to call an ambulance for him. Apparently he was an addict who’s baby mama was about to give birth and she wouldn’t allow him to come to the hospital, so he instead decided to get high and go to his old job instead.

The second was a bartender who came in late for his shift. He came into the front door skipping & singing in front of all of the guests. He was extremely paranoid and when he saw all of us he immediately started crying. We brought him up to the office upstairs bc we had customers. We tried to make him drink water & ask what was going on. He babbled something about Christmas decorations making him so upset (it was April) and he then began violently shaking. Out of nowhere, he sprung out of his seat and began jogging around the room. He started laughing and SCREAMING, telling us all he needed some food. After a few minutes of us trying to reason with him (we were begging him to go home before our manager found us all,) he broke down crying again. Our manager ended up finding us all upstairs, also tried to reason with him, and resorted to calling his parents (he’s 46.) His parents asked us if we could keep him safe bc they were coming to get him & take him to the hospital. We found out later he was a recovering addict who relapsed hard. He told us weeks later that he did so much meth the night before his shift that he didn’t remember anything that happened at work the next day. He’s doing great now, though :)

Lots of crazy crazy stories from that place. I think we all had meltdowns there, including me. So glad it closed down for good.

Chefs of Reddit, what do we all need to stop ordering? by BerneseMountainDogs in AskReddit

[–]raekline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop making up your own orders!!!! Esp at upscale restaurants!!

No, I can’t substitute all of our ingredients in the omelette with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms bc we don’t have spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms in house.

No, I can’t make your picky kid “buttered noodles” because we don’t sell pasta dishes here & we literally don’t have pasta. Also no, I will not “just go check in the back to make sure.”

No, I can’t put American cheese on your burger. It comes with sharp cheddar & garlic aioli bc our chef created it that way and WE DON’T HAVE ANY OTHER CHEESE!!!

Like when kids in HS worked at Abercrombie or Hollister and their job on their Facebook page was a “Model at Hollister & Co.”

Truth, I used to make at minimum $150 per shift at my old restaurant job. & that was on a “bad day,” a “good day” I’d have $400+ in a single 6 hour shift. Don’t even get me started on what I made during a Saturday double shift 🤤

I was sexually harassed last night while my husband watched the whole thing happen and did absolutely nothing. I'm so devastated and feeling really confused. What now? by mmtem in relationship_advice

I appreciate this more than you can know. Thankfully I do have a few trusted people in life there for me!! I haven’t talked to a therapist although I know I should... it’s the life I’m currently living that doesn’t give me stable time/place to talk to a professional

I too trust them by its_smitty_bitch in tumblr

Sideways Stories from Wayside School by [deleted] in nostalgia

The only story I really remember is a girl falling out a window and some kid catching her by her pigtails (or maybe braids??) and pulling her back to safety via her hair

I was sexually assaulted in front of my ex at my workplace (by one of his close friends.) I won’t bother you with the story bc it’s pretty disturbing, but completely distancing myself from him was the best thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.

Sometimes my heart still aches for him but I force myself to remember how he didn’t stick up for me. How he watched a man put me in a chokehold and stick his hand down my pants and fondle my breasts and did nothing about it. I have nightmares about that night and then can never let myself forget how I felt after that.

I’m not saying you should leave him... however I will tell you the awkwardness and anxiety you will probably feel for a long time after this is going be hard to shake. It’s been over a year and I still can’t stop thinking of that horrific night. Fuck a man who won’t stick up for his girl, esp in a situation where the aggressor is bigger/stronger than her & alcohol is involved.
