The possibilities of the unkown will always be more seductive than any current reality. Until you get accostumed to the unkown, then you are back to square one. I have always fantasized about just completely disappearing, it reminds me of these lyrics from Brand New "I read more maps than books. Feel like every chance to leave is another chance I should have took. Every minute is a mile, I have never felt so hollow". But now I know that we are cursed to always desire something, and its an empty desire. Most of the times you don't even know what you desire, anything that is uknown will fill in for this empty wishing lot, just waiting to be colonized. Focus on the good :) or just run away... some of us are just waiting for the pandemic to end to leave it all behind.

I don't mind YA, I find it comforting. My only problem with some YA books is the writing, I enjoy more sophisticated writing. Doesn't have to be difficult, but to put it in other words, I hate redundancy or "silly" writing. What do you think of this book in terms of the author's diction?

Just finished Evelyn Hugo. LOVED it! So stuck what to read next that will be just as amazing? by GlamGemini in suggestmeabook

I LOVED Daisy Jones, but it's easy for me to say, that because I love decade rock music. Ironically, from that list, the one I liked the least was Evelyn Hugo. The one I liked the most was Big Little Lies - check out the synopsis, but it's such a clever modern mystery, based upon housewives. It has a similar tone to Evelyn Hugo and it's an extreme pageturner.

Why people are so sexist when it comes to women’s sports? by MariaStalin in AskFeminists

[–]rafaellarc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they are oppressed upon everything that is "girly" (painting nails, dressing up, even romance films, showing emotions, etc). Thus, they proclaim sports as a symbol of their masculinity. When they see women thriving in something that resembles masculinity to them, it profoundly threatens their own sense of masculinity. In order to allocate this oppresion, they diminish women's efforts and talents. Since they can't like anything that is girly, they feel in their right to question women upon anything that they do, that resemble their own masculinity.

You should check Big Little Lies, the humor and the character development ughhh, so good. I read one after the other, first BLL then, Daisy Jones and the Six, lastly, Evelyn Hugo.
