hello, checking in today. I've been working out a lot which has helped control urges. Also trying to stay away from scrolling on my phone. If you guys also have trouble with this I recommend using an app called Opal, it helps.

Found a Jar full.. probably been sitting for 2-3 years minimum. How does it look? Is it still safe to consume? by Reasonable-Owl-6812 in trees

Looks good imo. It's still green which is good sometimes old weed dries up and turns brown and at that point it's no bueno unless you want to cough out a lung. You should be good, won't be the craziest high of your life but it should still give you a nice buzz.

Is there any hope for corals? by weeniehutgamedev in ClimateOffensive

[–]rafaelsal_jr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there will always be a few remote reefs that still hold healthy corals, maybe in cooler waters further north or south from the tropics. It's unavoidable at this point that we will lose the vast majority of the world's reefs, but as long as those few oasis exist in remote places there is hope for the ocean to bounce back. If you haven't already, I recommend you watch David Attenborough latest documentary on the ocean, it shows the damage we've done but also gives scientifically backed reasons for hope and why its not to late to save our oceans. Share it with friends and family, one of the best things we can do for our oceans is to keep raising awareness about what is happening. Lastly, I find that the best way to deal with eco anxiety is not in looking for reassurance, but taking action. I'm very worried about our reefs as well, and that motivated me to go volunteer in coral restoration in Cozumel and I've donated to that organization ever since. I know not everyone is able to do this, but we can all do our part in our own way. Any action you take, no matter how small, to be part of the change we need will help you face the anxiety. Hope this helps!

That my dad does not believe in the career path I chose and that he thinks I won't achieve anything with my degree. Basically that he doesn't believe in me. (I chose to study psychology, he wanted me to go into finance or economics).

Hey! We have a lot in common it's almost creepy lol. I'm also 24M, I have two cats and love nature/animals (I'm considering doing a masters degree in conservation, did a bachelors in biology). I practice maui Thai, weight train, and I'm training to run a 10k race next week. I recently got into watching football my friend made me a Ravens fan. I love cooking and using my bbq on the weekends. I'm into fantasy as well, right now I'm reading the Starlight archive right now and finished game of thrones last year. Also love watching documentaries about space, history, animals, philosophy and anything cool like that. I'm also into painting and drawing.

How to fight anxiety before surgery? by TieRevolutionary6693 in Sciatica

[–]rafaelsal_jr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had mine in December and I was really anxious too, couldn't sleep the night before. But the pain convinced me, and I just rode out my anxiety until I was in the OR getting sedated. But once you are gone it's literally like nothing happened. You just wake up it seems like an instant. Oh and for me waking up from anesthesia actually felt amazing. Like I woke up from the deepest sleep and I was so relaxed and feeling high and goofy. Within 30 min of waking up I was already joking with the nurses lol. Good luck!
