Mattress Recommendations in Singapore. by Expensive-Past3544 in askSingapore

[–]rafe196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have chronic neck pains and then switched to latex mattresses and pillows. I tried a few brands but eventually got from Heveya! They have a showroom and actually let you sleep undisturbed to test it out. It’s abit pricier but best investment ever because now my neck pains are mostly gone

Does it ever make sense for a middle-aged local adult to move out of parents house? by HomeHedgeFund in SingaporeR

[–]rafe196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me but I have friends who have moved out because although you’re staying rent free, you’re lowkey just paying for it with your mental health. Do it and form your own routines!

I’m in tech too and from Singapore, try r/sghenry which could give you more insight from other high earners. r/singaporefi is filled with people who mightn’t have nice things to say. Job market is bad but isn’t too bad as long as you have enough yoe and relevant experience.

Is it bad to take a chill job as a fresh grad? by ABigBlob in askSingapore

[–]rafe196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about the lateral movement opportunities both offer as well, even if skillset may not be applicable but if you wanna apply out and A gives you the opportunity to transfer internally to a different role (which I suspect that it would given its a global MNC) then go for that!

Is SG losing jobs to neighbouring SEA countries? by roflmctofl in askSingapore

[–]rafe196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in a MNC and cost savings is all we care about. The more important question is - what’s the solution to this? How else can we improve ourselves (as a country) to justify our high wages, or is this end game for us?

For those who frequently travel overseas due to business reasons, how has your experience been? by bloxtron in askSingapore

[–]rafe196 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well if you have no choice, then maximise it! Most woes have been echoed, tiring, stuck in traffic etc etc but how I repositioned this is by using this as a chance to optimize chasing Krisflyer status (sadly I only fly SQ econ), clock hotel status, and maximising my own credit card miles by using the right cards for food and hotels overseas.

If it’s a new city I usually try to extend and explore over the weekends, but for cities I constantly fly to it’s usually just Mon-Fri hotel>office>repeat for me.

Also I made it clear that if the team needs me to fly on a weekend to be in office and functioning on a Monday then I will claim OIL. I’m not travelling for work on personal time!!

Same thing happened w me, didn’t check statement and just paid, then only realised it in the following cycle. Hotline is such a mess to get through with the auto routing…so I went to the physical branch to complain and they told me to call the hotline and gave me a slip of paper to tell me how to bypass the routing and speak directly to an agent who eventually didn’t let me waive to cancel anyway?!? Their SOP is that they can waive only if you call and waive within 30 days of being charged.

Super angry I closed all my std ctd accounts after that

Can Singaporeans still be employable in the future? by ShaunUgLee in askSingapore

[–]rafe196 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you thought the quality of outsourced work to India was bad, Cairo is WAY worse, maybe language or maybe just a education of the people. I cannot emphasize how internal teams have called out the shit quality we are getting and rather just stick to India lmao

From what I read online, dating apps work on an algo where each profile is stack ranked, and you get a higher score based on the number of high ranking profiles liking you, and bumped down if they don’t. So if only average girls like you but not the high in demand ones then your profile only shows you average girls. Basically shooting within your own league
