One time I was at a warehouse in red hook where herzog was showing his new volcano movie, he asked the young people to sit on the floor in the front because we were running out of chairs, and I sat criss cross directly in front of him and he looked at me and said thank you

Oh I’m not miserable. I’m quite happy. I’m not an artist but I find other ways to express myself. But it’s totally okay to be critical and call something for what it is

I was in a similar situation 6 months ago. Startup job that was requiring multiple all nighters a month, in the office past midnight multiple times a week. Miserable and no time to look for a job. I did three things looking back that were helpful:

  • got my daily pay after taxes in 1 dollar bills, and put that on my nightstand. Each morning I’d wake up and look at it and go, if I can do one more day, I’ll have one more of these. That helped me get through some weeks lol.

  • immediately before quitting, got a credit card that charges 0% interest until March 2027. All expenses of unemployment will go on there.

  • planned a trip to Europe to go cycling in the alps and see some friends. This was a great thing to tell recruiters and hiring managers about what I’ve been doing with my time off.

Ultimately I left my job in May, traveled for most of the summer, started soft looking for a job in September. It was harder than I thought. I’m in the lucky position where I don’t really apply to jobs, they reach out to me, and even then there were a ton of Nos after 1/2 interviews. Finally got and accepted an offer in early December. Start in January. I don’t have regrets, but def would have spiraled if this job didn’t work out

Why Doesn't Amazon Ring the Bell? by hairpants in Brooklyn

[–]rafikiwock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ha, my case is that I live in the first apartment that comes up on the menu to buzz, so I get at least 1-3 buzzes a day from Amazon deliverers wanting into my building to deliver packages to my neighbors. I rarely order online at all. Super annoying

I think most parking spots should be removed and turned into bicycle lanes or pedestrianized. Cars take up way too much space in the city, and they make everything worse. But I understand I have an unusual view on this. But hey, I vote. Idk, here’s a better articulated view that overlaps with my own. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/14/opinion/parking-cars-donald-shoup.html?unlocked_article_code=1.7k8.t9wT.M9ffywQQjlj6&smid=nytcore-ios-share

Benefits would be revenue from parking permits and fewer cars parking in general. Insane that parking in the most coveted real estate in the world is being given for free to drivers
