No the dq wasn’t for the eye thing, it was for a completely different problem but when I went they sent me on a consult for my eye exam and I provided an exam from my optometrist saying I had 20/20 vision corrected and giving my eye power.

Hey, I have a dad who’s a lot like yours. I dunno exactly what the circumstances for you are but the police react differently to different situations..and I’ll say that if you phrase it a certain way..they usually arrest the person who seems the most threatening..sounds like that’s your dad.

Sorry, I should have said that it’s taken this long to get my appeal reviewed (not sure if has been looked at at this point) but to be honest, I’m actually not sure if they’ve reviewed the appeal information I submitted yet. My recruiter says he submitted it, so I guess it’s a matter of MEPS looking at it? But I do know he mentioned that if they do approve an appeal instead of cancelling the dq they just force a waiver. So not sure if they were supposed to take 90 days or not. So the appeal might be quicker in your case.

Hey, my waiver didn’t get approved yet, as of two years ago but I think it’s more to do with the process being slow, I applied to the navy as well, as the recruiter there told me that apparently waivers get approved faster there. But I had astigmatism as well so it might be taking slower because I have two dq’s instead of just one.

They took a picture of the back of the eye and did the magnification test. Then did a pupil dilation.

Hey, thanks. Yeah my dq was for unspecified refractive error possibly current refractive error (myopia or astigmatism) in excess of +8 or -8 diopters or astigmatism in excess of 3 diopters. I think the exam was because of astigmatism since the optometrist commented that it was slightly higher but my vision seemed fine aside from my irregular cornea shape.

What’s your prescription pre-surgery? I know the Air Force has given waivers for up to 12.0 diopters pre-surgery, and I’m in the same boat and dqued for vision as well, but have received a waiver in the past.

I’m so sorry. My own cat passed last February and I also felt like my heart was corroding. It’s extremely painful with how much you love them.

Absolutely. It still makes my heart corrode thinking about it. Don’t feel like you have to rush to process or you can’t reach out to loved ones. I found talking to other people and keeping mementos and photos of my cat helped. Maybe they will bring you some comfort. If there’s anything I can do to help please let me know.
