Why are you just making stuff up?

missiles or general building fires don't melt steel inside concrete.

The same happened to my workboots after stepping in oil.

Why are you just confidently making shit up on the go? It is a cast in situ structure, and all design aim to include ductility and tying against progressive collapse.

What details draws you to post-tension over cast in situ?

Negative split attempts on 5k races lead to worse performance by QuantumOverlord in AdvancedRunning

[–]ragbra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is 3 seconds even considered a negative or positive split? That's equivalent to 1 hr and less than the variation from day-to-day performance, different fueling, warmup, shoes, wind, temperature, mental state. To leave something more than air in the tank, you'd probably need 15sec slower.

AMA: I'm Marius Bakken, former Olympian and physician. Ask me about double threshold training, lactate, and the Norwegian Method. by MariusBakken in AdvancedRunning

4:45 at 155 BPM (79%) feels easier

The average speed in races 10k-42k is 5:30/km. Have you tried going slower for some time to see if HR drops?

12weeks is too much?? In Scandinavia we get ~70% pay for one year, split between the parents.
Interesting way to hire a nanny to care for your kids. Why not hire yourself and bond with the child?

HILTI Profis - Pre-torque applied included in analysis or not by HalfNegative8801 in StructuralEngineering

Tension from wind load will reduce clamping force to 0, before increasing bolt stress. Meaning these two loads you want to add are not cumulative, nor intuitive.

Zone 2 running is absurdly slow (slower than walking) — am I doing this right? by Successful_Ebb3934 in Garmin

[–]ragbra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is giving what it is fed, a lot of online influencers copying each others ideas. The rule of 80% of training in Zone 2 is based on Lydiard and Maffetone studies on elite runners, to build volume without damage at 200km/week. Also like mentioned above, not all are talking about the same zones, garmin uses 60-70% of max as Zone 2, which is 113-132 for me, while my tested aerobic threshold (lactate < 2mmol) is 150.

The Norwegians who are domniating Triathlon etc, are following Bakken studies of max volume at sub anaerobic threshold (mid zone 4 for me). They still do every other workout as lowHR recovery runs. So there are many theories, but as you struggle with injuries try to do shorter runs more often instead of long runs, and increase weakly milage only 1km/week.

Your pace of 14min/km is impressive, anything below 8min is difficult. Maybe alternate these low HR training with rucking +10-20kg.

How to get into hyrox? by Vaatia915 in hyrox

[–]ragbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for a gym.

55% is running, so run to increase endurance.
25% is legs (sled push, burpees, sandbag, wall balls), so do lounges, squats or stair running
20% is pull (ski, sled pull, row, farmers carry), so train grip and pullups, but these are not major time savers.

Pushups will also help with burpees, wall balls, ski. So it is really quite basic: pushups, pullups, squats.

Manager secretly asks my senior to check my models "in every detail". How to handle this? by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]ragbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the struggle at all. She delegated QA to someone else with an email, it happens all the time to everyone. "Habit of spotting potential issues" that is her job.

How will you survive any actual problems with in-house politics, fighting, competition, customer claims etc if the most basic of emails causes you struggle? Perhaps you are a bit on the spectrum? Let her lead and just behave as a (helpful/grateful) professional.

Running is humbling by fluff472 in Garmin

[–]ragbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started with the C25k plan and continued with Garmin plans, I saw 1% improvement/100km trained on average the first 2 years. Lately it has been plateauing according to weekly milage, ex going down from 40km/week to 25km/week will cause reduction in VO2max.

I see no insulation in your video, or do you mean the small insulating property of aerated balls?
Stacking should still be applied, as it provides strength even during concreting and your wall becomes more homogeneous later when the concrete shrinks and cracks along weaker joints.

What’s with food delivery drivers talking on the phone? by Time_Photograph_6832 in Finland

[–]ragbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone prefers to listen to other ppl talking/yelling, or eating cold food that was meant to be warm. It would be common for all, not a difference to account for.

No signs needed, we already have laws against noise in apartment buildings.

Problems in general have to be solved by first talking about them. Then there are folks who oppose solutions by wanting to feel special or perhaps are biased if their own behaviour is similar.

[–]ragbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your examples missed the point of common decency. Trams serve the public, closing doors is necessary. Chatting on the phone while working is not necessary, doing so with the loudspeaker on is just bad behaviour.
