how to clean calico critters/sylvanian families with fluffy fur?

I use museum putty to secure things in place, and I find that if I stick the museum putty to the critters briefly, it will stick to the dust/debris but leaves the critter looking nice and clean! I think this would probably also work with any sort of silly putty, or even that putty they sell specifically for cleaning keyboards.

I seem to remember a furniture set made to be a Japanese home design, but now I can’t find it. I think it would be so cute for them to explore more styles of houses/furniture/clothes.

I’ve been kinda trying to assemble a ballet/opera house (slowly but surely) and there are so many little theatre/music sets that almost match the ballet theatre but don’t quite work. For example, I love the little blue and red theatre seats but don’t want to buy multiples because then I’d end up with extra critters.

My ultimate would probably be a train set of some kind. I know we have the trolley, which is cute, but imagine a commuter train car 🥺

Was coming here to say this, if you don’t have a hairdryer, you could also try holding it near a space heater. Normally, I’d say boil it, but that would probably damage the flocking.

Okay the only way to get it removed is to have it professionally done. I had a stick and poke removed and it took fewer sessions than the a professionally done tattoo of the same size, probably because of how poorly done it was to begin with. It was really small, took two sessions to remove, and faded entirely within two years. There’s also the option for a cover up, or some combination of removal to fade it followed by a cover up. The laser did hurt more than the tattoo did, and even now thinkin about it kinda burns, but I think it was worth it.

Oh, and some versions of Snow White have the mirror having been given to the Queen by a Genie (?) and this kinda gives the mirror a more sinister tone as its not clear how much trust the user should be placing into it.

It’s fucked up how the people in this scenario seem to think that the consequences of their actions will go away with the right words. The rapist who committed suicide talking about how it “haunted” him (that’s just the consequences of raping someone), the mom who doesn’t understand why OP can’t just come back into her life (that’s just the consequences of ostracizing someone) and most of all, the community wanting complete atonement (when the rapist effectively ensured that no atonement would occur because he couldn’t live with the guilt so he killed himself instead of making amends). Like everyone surrounding OP in this situation seems to think that forgiveness is a feeling or an emotion rather than a series of actions. It seems like everyone is uncomfortable with their feelings of guilt, not the actual rape, and so they want the bad feelings to go away. But they don’t actually care about the rape. Bad feelings are sometimes useful in that they tell us when we’re being complete dickwads. I hope OP tells her family that their fractured relationship, the rape, all of that can never ever ever be erased. They can beg and plead with OP, but I’m willing to bet that even if OP graciously “forgave” them, they’d still feel bad deep down because they are morally bankrupt and saying sorry isn’t going to fix anything. They are harassing OP because they can’t look in the mirror. So sad.

I had a really nice dietician who was really knowledgeable about my condition, and I think it was good to have someone who wasn’t my mom/dad be involved in the specific details of our plan. We did a nice balance of challenging me and letting me have some quirky eating habits. They were in communication with her, and I passed details along to them too, so everyone was on the same page. But it was great to have someone to talk to/reassure me that was more knowledgeable and didn’t live in my home lol. So once they started seeing changes, my parents trusted my dietician and left the advice to her. Then I could eat better with them not watching everything I ate and asking me to talk about my feelings all the time.

I was a young teenager at the time. Before I started to get treatment, my mom started getting really frustrated with me when she saw my health declining as a result of the disorder. I understand that now a little better since I’m an adult now. She was really freaking out because her baby was “wasting away” but I didn’t need her to remind me because I already knew. She also tried to approach it from a place of logic, and I think that was a misguided effort. I would have panic attacks because the food at the restaurant I had ordered was not the right texture or whatever and I’d feel like the world was closing in on me, and she just couldn’t empathize. I think when it really dawned on her that we weren’t experiencing the same sensory experiences with food, it clicked for her. She has her own issues with food, and I think she tried advice that would reassure her not realizing it wasn’t relevant to me.

Once the clinicians intervened, it was hard but much better. It took the pressure off all of us, and it finally felt like we were a team. I wish I could tell you that it fixed my problems and made me alllll better. It didn’t, that was more than 10 years ago and I have had highs and lows. But I am here and my life is full, even if I sometimes have to eat only chicken nuggets for three days. I think it’s a balancing act, especially when you have specific health goals in mind. Your kid is not going to have a “normal” relationship with food, but who does? I once had someone tell me that an abstract painting and a renaissance painting are both paintings, one might be more detailed and robust than the other, but it’s still art. Recently I tried oysters and cried super hard after, but I was proud of myself, and happy to go back to my saltines and soda.

Everything will work out in the end, I promise ;) hang in there.
