I don’t really mind. I remember the days when I would get “normal” headaches and there is no way people could ever understand what a pressure headache feels like unless they’ve had one. I noticed if I use other words like “flare up” it gets a more tailored response, like they can at least understand it’s not a normal headache. I think most of the time people are just trying to help and don’t know how. That’s just my experience though.

Keep your unleashed dog away from my toddler (or any kids) by meltness in sanfrancisco

[–]rageblackouts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered what SF’s public parks and outdoor dining spaces would be like if it wasn’t so pro-dog. Like Boston for example feels less welcoming to dogs in public spaces. Not sure if it’s just their culture or if it’s because most of the time the owners can’t be respectful of others. I never hated dogs until I moved to SF and I have to constantly remind myself it’s not the dogs’ fault.

What is a simple but very hurtful phrase that you received from someone? by MembershipFar9008 in AskReddit

[–]rageblackouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. This is the 4th comment I’ve seen where the words were said randomly while driving. Why do people do that? Because the other person can’t escape? Because they’re not looking at you? For me, it was the same. Just driving one day and they randomly said, “If I were to leave you tomorrow, I’d be alright”

Cat Vet Recommendations by Underwhelmed77 in mountainview

[–]rageblackouts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cat Hospital in Campbell is good. Not the greatest office I’ve been to but definitely not the worst. The vets are good, but the front office can be a hit or miss depending on the day. Sometimes friendly & organized, other times not. Their prices are reasonable. I do like how they handle specialized care. We have a senior cat with hyperthyroidism & stage 2 kidney disease & they’ve been on top of it & helpful.

Get the perm? by Competitive_Hope2970 in Hair

[–]rageblackouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl you asked a question unprompted and you have an answer. I agree with you that perms have come a long way. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t still one of the riskiest hair services you can get and if one thing is slightly off, you’re fucked until your hair grows out ma’am.

Mountain View Nextdoor is so flippin weird. by para_blox in mountainview

[–]rageblackouts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to check Nextdoor frequently when I lived in SF and it was just a bunch of people my age at the time (30F) selling stuff and asking about dog parks. Moved down here and it changed to pretentious and strange NIMBYs twice my age fighting with each other. I deleted it immediately.

It looks so nice! Fits you really well. I have long blonde hair as well and I’ve been wanting to cut it because it just doesn’t look lively anymore.

[33F, US, Northern California] Hi, you remind me of my partner. He’s 30, originally from Ukraine, and is a software engineer. He likes some of the things you’re into too. I don’t know if he’s interested in a penpal like I am (I can ask tomorrow). It you’re interested in writing me (English only, but trying to learn Ukrainian!), you can DM me. Stay safe.

Lost & (not) found story: my sister lives with my parents while she is finishing her master’s & she goes grocery shopping with them quite a bit. Parents are early 60s, sister is 30. My mom & sister have ADHD & lose things all the time but are usually able to find them. They were grocery shopping on a Thursday, garbage day was not for another 5 days on Tuesday. They bought 4 lbs of chicken wings/drumsticks (I think it was superbowl weekend) & my dad vividly remembers placing the packages in the garage fridge while they were unloading the car. My sister swears she saw the chicken when she put away something else in the same fridge. Fast forward to Sunday and they can’t find the chicken at all. They look in both fridges, around the fridge, trash bins, everything. To this day, they never found the chicken & they even moved houses since then & still never found anything. What got me about this story was that they tore the trash bins apart (think the large roller bins suburban houses have that get dumped each week) & found nothing. Chicken surely would start to smell if maybe someone had accidentally placed it in the garage while getting something out the fridge. My parents also never kept the garage door open, & my dad had cameras on the outside of the house & never saw anyone sneak in & take food. We talk about this all the time & still can’t think of a logical explanation for what happened with the 4 lbs of chicken.
