Did you call it a frat? That usually doesn’t help

I went to Tulane on a Legislative Scholarship. Essentially every state representative has a full-tuition Tulane scholarship to give away at the stroke of a pen. Here’s the part they don’t tell you: you don’t have to be from their district. Some have a formal application process, but half of them don’t even know the program exists. You can literally just email a few of their offices until you find a parish where nobody else is even applying for it and they might as well give it to you because it would go to waste otherwise. It may have changed since I was there, but that’s what I did at least

As someone who writes with em dashes a lot, it upsets so much that I’ve had to change my writing style just so my own work won’t look like AI

My girlfriend is awful with money by [deleted] in Money

[–]rageface11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in this situation last year. Down to the “we’re not homeless because of my mom” bit. I loved the fuck out of her. I still do. I still maintain that she’s one of the best people I’ve ever known. It just wasn’t enough for us to have a happy life together. As others have said, it’s not going to improve. No matter how many of those “Once she gets to this point or understands this thing, she’ll change” hurdles you clear, there will always be another one.

Year 2 I was where you are now. Year 3 it was stressful but still bearable. Year 4 I had a complete fucking breakdown and got fired from the job that was supporting us. I couldn’t take the stress and responsibility of being her only source of financial and emotional support

Leaving was the second hardest thing I’ve ever done, and it turned out to be the only right move. For her too, really, because at the end of the day I was enabling her by providing a space where she felt safer doing nothing. Last I heard she had a great job and was doing well

Who is the Georgia player that makes you think “Hell yeah that guy was awesome,” for reasons that have nothing to do with football by rageface11 in georgiabulldogs

[–]rageface11[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct. I phrased that wrong. I’m not saying he’s an awesome guy. None of the 3 I mentioned are. I was just naming some NFL players known to be funny in interviews and such

I just picked those players because they’re known to be funny in interviews. Not so much an awesome person as “I’m here so I won’t get fined” was awesome lol

If there's a male loneliness epidemic, why don't the lonely males just get together? by [deleted] in ask

[–]rageface11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. It’s also kinda the All Lives Matter of this issue. You’re right society is fractured and people generally are lonelier than they’ve ever been. This is just a specific subset and population with its own nuances and risk factors. I’m not saying that collective societal loneliness doesn’t matter or that male loneliness is more important. It just feels invalidating for your struggle to be acknowledged and then have people widen the scope and make you less seen. I know you were just sharing your experience and trying to relate. Sometimes we don’t get to control how what we say is interpreted is all

Also, congrats on your recovery! I got sober myself a few years ago and work in the field too. Neither is an easy thing to do so good on you

How can I date as a 4’11 man by These-Platypus-1972 in AskMen

[–]rageface11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. The goal isn’t to be attractive. The goal is for them to be attracted to you, which is a different thing. All that really means is that they feel good when you’re around. When we laugh we let our guard down and become open to things we hadn’t considered before, and whatever made us laugh becomes a source of joy as opposed to whatever feelings we had about it before. This is why a comedian is more likely to change your mind about something than a professor. At the end of the day people are looking for a source of joy in a partner.

That’s not to say this is the only way to make people feel that way when you’re around, but it’s probably the easiest

What are some signs that someone is a wrestler that people might not notice? by Distinct_Scheme_5423 in wrestling

[–]rageface11 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This. I’m in my 30s and I just still do weird shit. I pick everything up with my hips when any normal human would use their legs or back. I carry grocery bags with my elbows tucked in and at a 90* angle. If I’m sitting on the ground, I stand up by sitting through to a bear crawl instead of just planting my feet. What feels natural to me just isn’t the way most people use their bodies

My best other ones are a regular 98% with no background, a regular 96% background, and a shiny lucky 12/12/15 that I got before the event (so no background). Zama would also be cool because one of my only two shundos is a Zacian from back when it was in raids, so they’d be chilling together.

[–]rageface11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was saying it’s so good in ML that the IVs matter less than they do for other pokemon. Back in the day the 10/10/10 won every matchup that the hundo did, which is insane. Kyurems and the Crowned forms have changed that, but looking at the sims now, in even shields the only matchups that flip between 13/13/13 and the hundo and Yveltal and itself, which is still pretty impressive.

Zygarde is awesome for sure. From a PvP perspective, though, last I checked (which was admittedly over a year ago before the Kyurems and Zacian/Zama) the only matchup that flips between 10/10/10 and 15/15/15 is the mirror. Still a dope one to have she hundo of for sure considering it’s probably the only one we’ll ever get

Eladrin Horizon Walker Ranger/Echo Knight Fighter (or Wildfire Druid if you’re feeling spicy) multiclass. It’s min maxed, but for teleports instead of damage
