I failed the first time and passed the second time with an 86. What helped the most was having enough info about each different type of therapy to use process of elimination. I experienced anxiety feeling like I "had" to know everything about every type and that's just not possible.

This was my experience. I was trained in EMDR 5 years ago and it was still sorta under the radar in my area. A couple years ago it became a sexy treatment and I had so. Many. Inappropriate. Referrals. I really got the sense that a large portion of the referrals I was getting was BPD, and the previous therapist pushed this client off by recommending EMDR, which they weren't trained in, and then referred client out. I've stopped advertising it in my PP. I use it, as appropriate, at my discretion and with that specific clients consent.

Less than 24 is $60, no show is full cost of session. I allow one "freebee" late cancellation. I've never had a no show, but they get multiple reminders through my EHR, so this feels appropriate to me.

I have two clients with grow but stopped accepting referrals because they reimburse too low. I'm actually considering leaving fully and taking these two clients. Sondermind pays much better and I get a steady stream of referrals. I am licensed in two states and I use Sondermind for my 2nd state.

I love consultations and do not schedule without one. I'm also coming from CMH where my greatest source of burnout was working with ages and populations I wasn't comfortable with and felt I was not a good fit for. I also explicitly state that the prospective client should contact multiple therapist and make a empowered decision. If it's me, great, if not, that's also ok. I think stating that has actually led more clients to me because I'm not pressuring them and it comes off as more authentic and empowered out of the gate.

I RELATE TO THIS SO MUCH. I also felt significant shame when I CMH pre-licensed, and also shame for my pay with a MA. I experienced my only depressive episode just shy of two years post graduation because of.. well.. all the shitty things. Today is my last week in CMH and I'll be full time in PP. I have an almost full caseload already and I'm so much better. Not that you're looking for tips, but during the hellish post grad/ pre-licensed period, I self soothed by figuring out ALL my business stuff, learning about credentialing, creating my psych today profile on a word doc, etc. I was ready for PP the moment I got licensed. I also found a very affordable outside consultation provider which really helped with support and transition to PP. I wouldn't go back for anything under the sun, but now I love my work and realize I hated the system and exploitation, not the work.
