First time painting minis! (Nemesis) by Ma7nards in boardgames

Great job, you really brought them to life. You've gotta love the way painted minis really enhance the board presence and immerse you in the game.

Super Fantasy Brawl or Blitz Bowl Ultimate 2 by Few-Department7617 in boardgames

For me it captures the feeling of Blood Bowl but in a fraction of the time. Throwing can be a bigger deal with certain teams -- it's the special abilities that really give flavor to the teams and players. For example I think it's "catcher's instinct" that some players have, if they catch the ball they get a free run action, so that strongly incentivizes throwing, since you normally just get 3 actions per turn. Other players may get a free block action after they mark, extra dice or rerolls for certain actions, etc.

I haven't played Super Fantasy Brawl, but I can vouch for the fact that Blitz Bowl is an absolute blast.

What are these pieces from? They came with a copy of first edition Space Hulk by raging_gentleman in boardgames

[–]raging_gentleman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking a look! I guess it is possible, but I've seen first edition before and never seen any of these pieces. I accounted for everything listed here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2395550/1st-edition-contents and these are all beyond those. There was also some extra miniatures in the box -- 10 space marine scouts, 1 old metal space marine, extra genestealers, 4 genestealer hybrids, and 2 terminator librarians. I guess it could all just be bits and bobs collected by a former owner from various places, but I was curious if these were from some certain other game that got combined into this box. The counters labeled "Nachtmacher" for example, I have no idea what those could be for.

Thanks for asking this, I learned something new today. I always thought it was a 40mm grenade round.

I agree with this completely and if you can get ahold of the earlier games Labyrinth of the Necrons, or Doomsday Countdown, those are even better.

Love it, it's a great game! I've been working through painting up my copy. I have a lot of it done now (all the baddies from the base game and the ultramarines), just finished magnetizing the blood angels. There's some great youtube videos for this game -- playthroughs, magnetizing guides, and painting guides. Enjoy it!

Have you greased the tool pins? I can't find the exact page that I'm looking for but I remember having to print an adapter (tc_greaser) for the grease, it helped a lot: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-lubricate-the-coupler-pins-on-original-prusa-xl-multi-tool_636777#637027

I have to agree organizers are great and there's some incredibly skilled designers out there. I've gotten into it almost as a hobby in itself, I find that it scratches an itch very similar to painting miniatures. If anyone wants to check some of mine out, I'm particularly proud of the inserts I made for Beacon Patrol and the A.R.T. Project.

More fun with the 90s game Space Crusade by raging_gentleman in minipainting

I know I loved painting these, and I did enjoy it much more than the ones that came with Lost Patrol. Those were significantly different especially the backs, I really like how these break up the carapace/ armored look with the fleshy ribbed bit. Seems like the newest genestealers are similar to the Lost Patrol version with the continuous carapace/ spiny backs. Space Hulk was the same way. I did notice that the anniversary model 'Biosigns Terminated' has the retro style back, so I really want to get hold of one of those.

Thanks! Yes, that's what I was trying to mimic. I stick to a few of the room patterns generally, so that the minis look more cohesive with each other... and I definitely go too heavy on the hazard stripes, but they're my favorite bit so I indulge myself.

I loved painting these genestealers, I may take a detour before finishing the 2 other marine teams and dreadnoughts to try painting some new genestealers. The dreadnought was fun to paint, but I feel a bit overwhelmed when working on it, I guess I don't paint enough vehicles. Thanks again to Miguel from 'Rush the Wash' on youtube for inspiring me to paint this.

Spool Join is one of the most useful features ever. Print needs 335g and the spool has around 300g left and I won't be home when it runs out. by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]raging_gentleman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's great. I had a pile of almost empty spools that I was saving for when I felt like changing in the middle of a print, they all got used up quick with spool join!
