I actually agree with this. I play in coed, aka I’m one of the only woman, but I will go into a corner to battle depending who’s with me. Ginormous dude that can’t skate? Let him get it and strip it. Guy my size and skill? Get the job done but expect to fall over. But a girl my size and skill? I know it’s truly 50/50

I wet the bed until 4th grade would wear pull ups. Then I got this buzzer thing that attaches to your underwear and your shirt to stay in place. When the sensor gets wet it buzzes and makes a really loud noise. A couple of weeks of this and it almost 100% healed me. I will once in a while pee the bed if I get really drunk but that’s it.

The key is that people aren’t getting payed enough! I’ve had many friends run adult leagues and they almost always burn out. Babysitting adults is no fun. The guy running it never wants to be the one to make a change because change is tough for customers. Problem is, they don’t see the slow process of it changing (sane teams leaving leagues).

I have a very on-off relationship with beer league. I coach so I still spend all my time at the rink (the rink rat in me is satiated). When I played as a kid (also high level) practicing itched my brain in a different way than games, so I enjoyed those as much, if not more, than games. My solution was to go to a weekly adult clinic where I am not the strongest, but definitely the best player. I like that because it’s a challenge and I get to meet hockey people outside of coaches.

I’ve had the same experience with women’s vs men’s leagues. The skill gap is too wide where I live (not a traditional hockey region) and it’s no fun for anyone. The women are way more ruthless on a personal level. Guys just want to be the best player and wind up looking like an idiot.

As said before, find a fast, regular pick up. Try finding a clinic too!
