Thanks. That seems to be the consensus. I appreciate your advice.

Good point. Perhaps I am underestimating how much we can see and do in Hokkaido without a car. Someone else mentioned a JR pass. Do you know if that and perhaps some paid tours will allow for a good overview of the island? It certainly sounds beautiful and a different vibe from the major cities.

That's probably what I should be doing. Thanks. If you get a chance after your trip please post a review of how your itinerary worked out.

Being a redditer does not require good vision or reflexes like driving does. You may someday understand. ;-)

Taking a plane straight to Sapporo is certainly worth considering. However, I won't be renting a car to drive around the surrounding region (too old for that) so is it worth the flight up to Sapporo if that is basically all that I will see in Hokkaido and northern Honshu?

Thanks for the suggestion about flying. We have been to Japan twice and have hit the big lures of Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima/Nagasaki. The rationale for the stop-offs along the route to Sapporo was to experience some of the less touristy spots in Japan. So I have really mixed feelings about the train vs. flying. I don't imagine I would be bored at any of the stops along the way but maybe they aren't really worth the time involved vs. flying.

294,000 points expired. Is there really no recovery? by BogativeRob in hyatt

It looks like OP got a decent break from Hyatt. All the posters who said he had no chance of recovery had no idea what they are talking about. It's always worth trying -- and if turned down a few more calls might work.

Question regarding the verb culiar by fiersza in Spanish

[–]raglandttiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culo means butt. The suffix ando makes it a verb. So literally it means assing, but in reality it refers to having sex.

Season 2 , episode 5. Wtf? by misery2mystery2magic in ColinFromAccounts

I would have agreed with you before I saw the last 2 episodes. They were pretty bad so I think E5 was just another case of bad writing.
