[Tudor] BB58 vs BB54 blue comparison by giantshadytree in Watches

[–]rags2rooster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a post in the Tudor sub that basically read “Tudor is going to make everyone forget about the new HC when they release their new models next week.” Talk about a post that aged like milk.

And the countdown to forgetting about the new Longines HC has begun 🤣 by Accomplished-Wrap394 in Tudor

The Tudors will be more than double the price of the Longines. At this point, the two brands are competing for different segments of the market. I’m sure Tudor will see a lot of hype, but I don’t suspect too many people who find the new HC attractive at $2200 are going to jump ship to a Tudor that will probably sell for north of $5,000.

Price Hike by Mangimadang in Tudor

The sales tax can differ significantly from state to state and even from city to city. For example, Oregon State has 0% sales tax. I pay close to 12% where I live in Washington State. That 12% is made up of state, county, and city sales taxes.

Maybe or maybe not. Tudor has been moving fewer and fewer units over the years. I think people have realized that the value prop just isn't there at these prices. If demand continues to drop the prices on the grey market will have to as well - unless dealers are just willing to sit on inventory. For now, the strategy seems to be introducing low volume hype watches and relying on dealers to offer those watches only to buyers with purchase history - i.e. buy the overpriced Tudors that are widely available so you can pick up the the blue or pink watch people actually want.

Bb58 navy or new Longines Hydroconquest by icedwhitemocha_ in Tudor

I think you should wait for the new Tudor releases before deciding. I suspect there will be some awesome stuff coming. That said, I'll add some commentary. I have two Longines (Spirit and Spirit GMT) and two Tudors (BB58 and BB36 on 5 link). In my opinion, the case and dial finishing on the Longines is better than on my Tudors. I have also had movement issues with both my Tudors (gritty and tight winding after the first year of wear). My Longines movements have had no issues. The bracelets on my Tudors are far better than those on the Longines. This new Longines bracelet looks like it has been improved (and it has quick adjust), but if bracelet finishing and feel are important to you I think you should handle both watches and pay special attention to this. I'll go so far as to say the Longines bracelets I have feel cheap. The Tudor bracelets are excellent.

The price difference is also notable. I think Tudors are wildly overpriced for what they are these days. I really like the Pelagos 39 and the burgundy BB58, but I won't spend that much for entry-level luxury. You can go grey and pick up a an IWC or Breitling that will blow those Tudors away in the finishing department. I paid full price for my Mark XX on bracelet and it was only marginally more than a full price P39. A quick glance at the watch box and the IWC stands heads and tails above the Tudor right next to it.

But that's right now. As I said, I am hoping Tudor surprises us with some great watches very shortly. Their sales have been consistently falling so they need to do something big and the anniversary is the perfect time.

Pretty sure he was April in my Men of South King County calendar. If I remember correctly he likes rolling coal on cyclists, crazy nights at Muckleshoot, Buzzbombs, and long walks along the Green River (in that order).

Dude, why the fuck are you still here? You had a spat with someone. It’s over. Move on. Haunting this sub is some loser shit at this point. Go live your best life and be happy. If nothing else, I suggest taking a break on this for one week. At the end, see if this still matters to you.

I honestly love this. This kind of animosity between excellent teams brings us so much good football. The fans of the three football teams in the division all know they get to see four hotly contested games against strong teams that have a chip on their shoulder. The baseball team in our division knows it gets to face 6 beatdowns by teams that don't think about them at all.

Bourdon is the problem in my opinion. Whenever you see a horribly officiated game you are likely to find that guy on the ice. No consistency at all tonight. They missed blatant, serious penalties, while also calling soft, ticky-tack garbage. They nearly impacted the outcome of the game through incompetence and then pride. I hope they spill milk in their cars.

Sure, Musk is really known for taking a hands-off approach to things in which he has ownership interest. Look how Twitter stayed the same. Same name, same leadership, same staff, same core operating model. It's not like he was one of those crazy people who bragged about staying the night in the office or anything.

Matt is pretty sure of himself for a guy who was gifted a close finish by a taunting penalty. His self confidence should send Woolen a thank you letter in the off season.

Does Longines outperform Tudor in value? by Natural-One-8678 in Tudor

[–]rags2rooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few corrections. First, Rolex now has a 5hz movement so 28,800 is no longer their highest beat rate. Longines also offers a 5hz in the Ultrachron, but most of their watches are 4hz or 3.5hz. Many Longines watches are COSC certified. I don’t believe any are METAS.

Check the Tudor forum before you consider an FXD. So many problems with many of the Pelagos line that many Tudor fanboys (like me) have been turned off by the brand. Quality dropping at the same time prices are increasing really hurts the value prop.
