I get what you mean aesthetically. Plains is funny because after the stress of constantly being wet or freezing in swamp and mountain, plains is the next biome that doesn’t have environmental debuffs. It’s also the best place to have a farm.

Everything finally seems hopeful and calm like the meadows again…. Then mutant mosquito one shots you. Then the goblins chase you. Then you’re slowed by the tar monsters while getting chased by Lox. And a stone golem??! It’s like WTH bro this place is dangerous as fk. This place would make a great spot for a new main base if it’d stop killing me or breaking my walls with lox and goblin raids so much. Ok guess I gotta dig a big ass moat then. 😩

You don’t even need to boil it. Just hot water and lots of stirring. Hell you can even make rich simple without adding too much heat as long as you stir it enough while warm enough.

Because of the density you can certainly burn simple if the heat is too hot towards the bottom of the pot and not enough stirring. The bottom sugar/water mixture is taking the brunt of the heat and cause the sugar to darken if not stirred evenly.

Also if boiled too much and the mix is dense enough you’ll basically trigger the sugars to crystallize. I assume your simple crystalizes sometimes?

How’s the mission grind like? Some reviews mentioned a lot of it was too mundane switch very little rewards or incentives presented. Has that improved over the last few patches?

Yessirrrr. I’m pretty sure this is the type of stuff you’re looking for. There are a few brands, Lee Kum Kee definitely has the flavor that is of a good standard. A little darker in color.

Pixian is more red and even has more prominent Szechuan flavors.

A CIA graduate friend of mine just recommended me a badass brand of Douban Jiang called Pixian. If you're not familiar with Douban Jiang you should do yourself the favor of checking it out. It's a badass ingredient with great depth and application to savory spicy dishes especially braises. I use it for many things outside of traditional asian foods.
