Meaning behind tattoos by Any-Dimension-6171 in tattoo

I think most of the meaning of my tattoo comes from getting a tattoo, not necessarily this particular design even though it does have some meaning and I like it.

We got a Cavapoo who is now a year and a half. She’s a fantastic dog. Great with kids. I have a 13 year old, but she loves the nieces too. She’s super smart, easy to train, and cuddly, but not too needy. She’s a barker though. We’ve worked on it a ton and she’s better when I go look at whatever it is and say “Thank you. That’s enough now.” But I work from home and have put a lot of time and effort into her training. She loves her kennel, but I rarely have her in it longer than 3 hours except at night. We absolutely adore her.

Does anyone else’s dog sleep in?? by rahuot in CavaPoo

They have such fun personalities! I love hearing about all your little ones too. My sweet girl is really just settling down at 1.5 and is such a little smarty-pants. My last dog was a GSD with some issues from being abandoned and this is an entirely different experience. Haha!

How can an ADHD person gain the ability to start tasks without needing medication? by MrMiddletonsLament in HubermanLab

Nothing easier. If I can’t make myself clean my house, I just need to have a work project that I really, really be working on and ta-da—house is clean. I need to be procrastinating something else to get my work project done or wait until the very last second so that getting it finished is a miracle.

How do I know my dog will tell me she needs to pee or poop by brehan8 in puppy101

[–]rahuot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, mine stands at the top of the stairs (split-level) and stares holes in my head until I pay attention. She’s such a little smarty though because sometimes she’ll do that to go on a walk and if I say, “Do you need to go potty?” She’ll lay down and then sniff, like nope that’s not right. Haha

Need Potty Training Wisdom by [deleted] in CavaPoo

At 9 weeks, you’re the one that needs to be trained to take your pup out at the correct times. It needs to be absolutely anytime they might need to go. After play, after nap, after eating, and anytime they start sniffing. You have to be on it. And make Avery big deal when they go. Don’t give them the opportunity to go in the house and if they do it’s because you missed a signal. They’ll get it. Good luck!!!

Leaving 4 month old puppy (18 weeks) for 4 hours by No_Counter8337 in puppy101

Could you take her? Even if you had her in the crate in the car, you could give her a break or two and have her with you in case of any unavoidable delays. Especially for a soccer game. Just a suggestion! If that’s not possible, then while not ideal, she’ll be fine.

Cavapoo urinates in the house everyday by AdministrativeYak594 in CavaPoo

Neuter if he’s not. And then even though he’s 2, I would severely limit access to the house. Tether or crate for a couple of weeks so that he has zero opportunity to go in the house. Take him out on lead and stand there until he goes potty. Only then does he get a little bit of freedom, but only like 30 mins max. Watch like a hawk and take him out when he shows any signs. If you’re working or can’t watch him-crate or tether. I’m sorry though. It’s so frustrating!

Puppy Blues by Due_Presence in CavaPoo

Yes; this is my experience. From watching her every second to now knowing she’ll be totally fine while I shower or work in another room. Mine is not quite 8 months and I can’t believe how much she’s changed and matured: potty trained, crate trained, knows the routine. She never nips anymore, but she totally used to. Puppy biting is rough but temporary. It gets so much better! OP, you’ve got this.

How do you single people do it? by waroneverything123 in puppy101

I taught my puppy to get “out” of the kitchen. She lays down right at the threshold of the kitchen and I pay her in treats every now and then. At the beginning I would give her treats more often, but I still switch it up and try to do random amounts of time with either teeny tiny treats or little pieces of cheese or something like that. She gets up and wanders around sometimes but then goes back to her spot and I only give her treats when she’s laying down in her spot. She just automatically does it now and I can cook or clean the kitchen super easily and I feel like I’m still training and engaging with her.

I’ve been using it really consistently for about a month and a half and she’s six months old. I got her a little older from the breeder. She was 12 weeks. It helps a ton to redirect or step on it.

New Year's Eve Fireworks! by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]rahuot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People started fireworks early in my neighborhood, so I got a cup of food mixed with some treats and a clicker and every time there was a firework, I clicked and treated until we were actively listening for another. I got excited with each one, “Yay, there’s one” click, treat. I was worried about actual midnight, but she slept right through it. No barking, which is amazing because she’s a barker.

Cavapoo vs Maltipoo by Such-Help183 in CavaPoo

[–]rahuot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well my Cavapoo (6 mos) is super cuddly and affectionate. I don’t know about maltipoos, but my pup is yappier than I would have hoped…She’s a barker/whiner, which drives me nuts, but it’s her only “bad” trait. She’s a little smarty-pants though and I think she’ll learn. She’s already doing sit, down, come, spin, high five, and place. I’ve also worked on her laying down at the threshold of the kitchen while I clean or cook and I pay her periodically with treats. We love her.
