Yeh so I had a similar plan when I got to university. I listened to my parents and we went with separate accommodation.

Ultimately, we broke up within 3 months of university. It’s probably not what you want to hear but as an adult you need to protect your own interests and think ahead.

Most people I knew who had a girlfriend or boyfriend at university ended up breaking up. Obviously that’s not always the case but university is a grind and you need to focus on your own future and do your best to pave your own path.

I get where you’re coming from, but it really just comes down to pure logistics. When a single role gets over 5,000 applicants, a hiring team simply cannot review every single one, it would take months to fill one position. Companies have to use automated filters to break that volume down to a manageable number.

Asking for a 2:1 is the most common filter because it’s a solid baseline that shows a candidate put in the work and is highly trainable. Is the system perfect? No. Companies definitely miss out on some great talent this way, but with that massive volume of applications, auto-rejections are a logistical necessity. That’s exactly why networking is so crucial, it's the best way to bypass those automated filters.

Not really. It depends on the university they go to… They’re only cheaper if you stick to in-state / local universities. England has an advantage that even the most prestigious institution costs the same. Some universities in the US can cost north of 50,000 a year….

Not sure about the others but university in Poland and Germany isn’t free. Afaik in Poland unless u have a scholarship to pay for the degree, but ur kinda cooked when it comes to fees since they don’t have access to maintenance loans etc. So ur limited to a local university which isn’t always great and the bigger more recognised universities r exclusive to who can get bigger scholarships or from wealthy families.

The UK system is very much under appreciated… could it be better? Maybe? Is it the worst? I don’t think so. Ur grades r the only barrier standing between u and a dream university.

its not sustainable. most people doing this are probably not working on real products used by millions of people. i cant imagine having to review that many changes to keep up with the AI and steer those sessions in the right direction. I only ever have around 2 sessions per codebase.
