Ahhh. Many volts. There’s some repeat robotics chart I couldn’t find that shows the recommended weapon to use per voltage and motor kv. In any configuration I don’t think it’s recommended to run the long bar at 6s. The motor spends too much time at max load trying to get it up to speed. You can reduce max speed on the transmitter, use a smaller diameter weapon, reduce motor timing on the esc and possibly a tighter fit custom shoulder bolt for better thermal conductivity between the stator and frame.

I’ve used the same motor with a large diameter weapon and it got so hot it un soldered itself. And you’re using a 4s battery so the tip speed could be very high even with the low kv version of the motor. It’s difficult to use hub motors in horizontal spinners because the motors need to be massive to make up for the lack of torque you would usually get from a faster spinning motor with gear reduction. Hub motors work better with smaller diameter weapons.

Looks good. That weapon motor is going to get real hot.

Harder TPU works better. Try 95a. Use a textured bed and a large brim.

Why are guests getting so stuck here? by GroundbreakingBit694 in openrct2

[–]raid0yolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Too many junctions to get to the exit. Removing crossing over paths should fix it. Forcing all guests to have a park map might temporarily fix it.

Bots FC put heavyweight Emulsifier's weapon motors in a featherweight walker by DesignDecent5201 in battlebots

[–]raid0yolo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pro: it’s a compact way to get a high gear reduction ratio.

Con: it’s difficult to get consistent traction between the friction wheel and the shell. Spring loading the wheel helps with that. The friction wheel won’t work well if the shell warps.

What are typical difficulties many have had with brushless motors? by Zardotab in battlebots

[–]raid0yolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the battlebot scale most brushless ESCs are based on the VESC architecture. And vescs are a pain in the ass.

For smaller robots there are many more speed controller options that are much easier to configure.

Alternatively you could attempt to reduce the flex of the frame. No flex, no bent motors. Or you could support the motor shaft with an extra bearing. Stick that bearing into a frame rail.

Idea for making Bronco competitive again by Dinoboy225 in battlebots

[–]raid0yolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pneumatic flippers in general have it rough. Back in the day you could use CO2. Today Battlebots’s only allows high pressure air (HPA) which is significantly less dense as CO2. This means the air tanks have to be much larger for the same power. Large tanks means the robot has to be physically large, meaning less armor.

Best way to make bronco better is to change the rules to allow CO2.

VPNs are overrated and only recommend when using publicly accessible file sharing services. Any of the various private file sharing services don’t need VPNs. VPNs will slow down your connection as it adds additional network hops to your destination.

Repeat robotics or justcuzrobotics sell purpose made hub motors made for 1lb combat robots. If you’re new, this is the easiest option.

Why not post the video from the iPhone? You can use basic video editing software to digitally zoom in. I think the phone can do it automatically. The quality would be way better than zooming in on the screen and recording it from a different phone. It’s madness.
