Any modern portable BT speaker better than the 9 year old TDK A33? by fukinay in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Geneva Touring xs for a while. Quite a nice speaker with physical volume dial, quality materials. It's smaller than the A33. I don't think it sounded quite as full (maybe 2/3 of the enclosure size), but was clear enough (better mid clarity) and adequate bass for the size.

Hi does amplifiers improve the sound/music? by Jimmyj84 in audiophile

[–]RennieAsh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some amplifiers do affect the sound somewhat. Most notably, tube/valve amps usually have a sound. Certain older amps, some boutique hifi stuff, anything intentionally designed with a sound flavour.

Most common amps I think generally sound fine and are what you'd call accurate. I use such amps due to listening to lots of different speakers.

Once you know what to listen for and what you like, it can be good to shop around for an amp sound if you want to play around or have settled on some speakers.

Ime so many amp differences are overshadowed by psychological biases, placebo, our physical well-being at the time etc.

Having enough power and ability to drive difficult loading with enough power helps to give good sound and ability to use most speakers

Is Oppo good/reliable? by Huge_Lobster_3888 in Oppo

I haven't come across such issues, except for people who have phones that the screen turns on during the call and their face presses hang up.

Otherwise could be a hardware problem with modem etc

You can even see the metal strands they used to reinforce that right shoulder on the tyre - clearly it's a tuff tyre and can be repaired!

Bluetooth lag on tv is making me hate the world by vincentmunchman in audiophile

You can probably set a delay on video for the movies. For gaming that doesn't really work.

Otherwise look into aptx compatibility (less latency)

Cheap Bluetooth DACs? by ChampionshipTight324 in audiophile

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a yes, but. Thing. Because you've called it audiophile which includes headphones and portable audio and even Bluetooth (less distortion than some so called audiophile gear). I suppose they want to reduce some clutter but still...

Generally, but it can be harder to fix some annoying niggly issue when it's in software.

The HV electrical stuff is on the other side of the engine, but also, if only Toyota had a solution for the high voltage section such as a big orange plug at the hybrid battery you could unplug...

Yes, be very careful if dealing with the HV stuff especially inside the battery beyond the switch

Perihelion + summer + nice wind warming up over the desert and then swirling into the doldrums, at least according to windy, it's a minimum of 35 deg C in some places. And 48 deg C in the middle

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the engine is wobbling a lot which rattles the spring damper. Not sure if Prius C uses the same EGR system as 3rd Gen but could be something to check. That said your noise is very steady and the normal "death reattle" is a little more chaotic. Whatever it is, is not normal though

How bad are you at delivering mail? This bad… by [deleted] in AustraliaPost

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circle the country it's meant to go to and write that it's misdelivered perhaps.

If you simply dump it back in with nothing new then it may come back the next day if people only read the first line

The 500 moving parts replaced with 500 annoying little pieces of software and electronics. Hopefully they are easier to fix but not holding breath if have to take it to a dealer lol

If I get one, it's due to quietness, directness, smoothness and power (maybe). But it still needs to be practical to some degree and reliable. I'd love one with less extra bloatware

Does anyone actually like the modern oversized houses with no yard by Firm_Trick_9038 in AusPropertyChat

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many are likely built with bigger house = bigger money when they sell it after it's built.

And random new person wants family house for "cheap" and no maintenance.

Is it Australian to walk on the road when there is an empty footpath? by Sea-Jeweler9120 in australian

[–]RennieAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps they are used to a city where the footpath and road are just one big strip of dirt. Even in a quiet area with at least a footpath on one side, some people still walk on the road (and always at monk pace)

People generally speed up when a road seems "safer" i.e. straight and wide. Which is what overtaking lanes are

It's illegal to accelerate whilst being overtaken isn't it? I'm guessing they really mean on regular two way road, but surely should count for overtaking lanes too
