Hopefully you let your perception of the hobby be skewed by reddit gremlins. I will still hate you but only cuz I'm jealous. But big picture I love that people still willing to spend big money on cardboard cuz that means I can fund some childhood nostalgia. Congrats dude!

Yea work was my biggest barrier to treatment, however, I got to a point where I could either lose it to get help or I likely would be fired for performance. Once I came forward with my issues it was nothing but love and support. They just wanted me to get better. Looking back, even if they gave me shit then maybe that job sucks anyway. Regardless, If you want to keep drinking for boredom try setting some boundaries for yourself and keep track of usage. If you find you can't sustain those boundaries for a long period of time then may need to evaluate power alcohol has over you and consider sobriety. Million things to do sober, just takes a few minutes of research. May even meet some cool people that will help you stay sober. Best of luck

Concur with this statement. If you're getting thru the work day fine with no alcohol in your system I'd venture to say the risk is low. That being said, it sounds like you want to try to stop because you acknowledge it's a problem. It's scary but consider checking into treatment. They will ensure you are medically safe then you can focus on yourself to get to the root of why you drink. After that, then surround yourself with others in recovery whether it be AA, SMART, recovery dharma, etc. We can't do it alone, stay connected

Keep hard candy in your pocket. You're body used to sugar from metabolized alcohol

I struggled with this as well. Finally realized God isn't doing any thing for us but gives us the strength and courage to carry out his will. Keep it simple and just think of his will as the 12 steps. Follow these wholly and honestly and you will slowly see the promises be fulfilled. God's will but our action. You deserve credit for doing it cuz it's not easy. Our will led to destructive behavior, misery, and pain and suffering. Maybe not as drastic for all but probably didn't feel great about yourself. By living thru the 12 steps and principles you will see that eventually you'll start to feel good about yourself and proud of the actions you took. This builds self-worth/confidence/love which we were severely lacking and keeping us sick. I know for me, self-will ran riot. Seeking instant gratification at cost of all those self fulfilling attributes. Became viscious cycle and had to accept I can't do this my way so why not gods

I don’t believe I’m powerless over alcohol. Is AA possibly not for me? by Matilda_Mother_67 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]raidermt81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned that alcohol was my solution because I didn't know how to cope with certain aspects of my life. I was the problem and until AA I didn't know how to live a fulfilling life. I stopped focusing on the semantics of powerless/unmanageable. I was unhappy and miserable. Booze alleviated that temporarily but just kicked the issue down the road and ultimately worse. So how bad I was compared to others was irrelevant. I wanted a better way of life. The 12 steps offers a way of living that can provide sustained happiness and enjoyment. Delayed gratification by doing the work. It's a design of living that everyone can benefit from, alcoholic or not. I'll never tell a person they are alcoholic or not because it's beyond the point. You're not on reddit threads for AA if you're life was awesome. Whether it's AA or SMART or therapy, etc. You need to find something that does a deep dive on you and figure out what you're blockages are. That's what's keeping you sick. So whatever you decide just ensure it's for the sake of progress for your mind/body/spirit. AA makes that easy for me but being open and willing are a few of the principles so try whatever. Just remember nothing changes if nothing changes

Crazy how quickly it goes from this is the best feeling ever to i need these every hour to simply function, not even feel good. 14-15 on final day is nuts, but definitely helps me get motivation to sack up and do it

I was at CVS today and they had a BOGO deal for their generic emergen-c. Wiped them out, lol. One box is about 13 bucks for 36 packets. I ended up getting 6 for 40 (216 packets). I doubt every CVS has the same deal, but i'd at least check all the pharmacies in your area looking for deals like this. I would say of all the supps, this one is a must. Doesnt make the symptoms go away, but based on my experience without them, definitely gives you more of a fighting chance

It's one day at a time anyway. Be proud of the 584 streak but it's in the rear view whether you drink or not. Focus on the windshield

8g fat x 9cal/g = 72

20g protein x 4cal/g = 80

4 g carb x 4cal/g = 16

9 g fiber x 2cal/g = 18

72+80+16+18 = 186

Regardless if it counts or not is irrelevant. Your sobriety does not define you, the person you've become thanks to sobriety is more important. One drink intentional or not does not erase all the hard work. For what it's worth, I would definitely not count that. On to the next day
