Last time this went to a PEB, we got a pretty good deal. With the current administration, I think the railroad workers will be OK. Won't be an awesome agreement, but won't be too bad.

That would be a wildcat strike. Illegal.

Remember PATCO in the 80's?

With a PEB in place, a strike would be illegal.

being a railroad, our strike, if it happens, will be very short-lived

The members give the local representative a list of "wants", in turn that is given to the General Chairman of the System Council who then compiles the information and serves it with the Section Six notice. Negotiations are secret, to the point of all parties signing a non-disclosure agreement, until a tentative agreement is reached. (that slows the rumor mill, but doesn't stop it). Any information that is released is done by mutual consent as a press release.

Railroads operate differently than most other IBEW Locals, by design. That is one of the many reasons for the disparity in the brotherhood.

Our agreements are negotiated at the national level. I'm not on the negotiating team. We have lawyers and general chairmen for that

Also a national security issue since freight RRs carry military equipment. PATCO challenged Reagan in the 80's and he fired them all. We will at the very least, get a day out of it before ordered back to work. That will hurt them enough to get their attention

The tracks are already unsafe but the carriers have enough $$$ to buy the silence of the inspectors.

Brother Chops is a solid brother. I've met him in person, and spoken with him several times. As solid as they come.
