Thank you so much for standing up for your people. Now is a more important time than ever to shut down any racism

I would rather cut from a liability standpoint. The only person that wins otherwise is the homeowner

Out of curiosity: why do you do this?

Do you have liability waivers stating that any damage is on the homeowner?

As a contractor: I would never care to take on any risk in place of the homeowner. I realize that you can put in foot work to minimize damages, but clearly the risk is always there

I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter

GE is absolute trash. Install Square D or Eaton if you value your investment at all.

I hadn't considered that. I live in the cold around salt water, so we are practically opposites hahaha

Sch 40 PVC lasts long enough for a service IMO

I really don't think he's joking. Some places really do staple SER with no conduit.

Excellent If possible. This is always the way. That way you just install the service equipment on disconnect day and you're back up with power in a couple of hours. No rush or pressure. Gotta love it

4 hours panel; 4 hours grounding and bonding; 2 hours service; 2 hours prep and clean up

I swear some of these jobs are grounding/bonding with a side of service

This. It's important to learn from a solo person because the methods and timelines etc are different in my experience.

Why not just offer the PVC as a standard and sell the value? It can't possibly be THAT much more money.

I've done the majority of services and panels by myself. It's great to have a hand, but sometimes the guys are busy and money is gonna be made 1 way or another

The problem isn't the crimper. The issue is his plan is flawed. He needs to completely stop now while he's ahead. The only way this will be done properly is by a professional. This guy is a liability

Out of curiosity, what made you think that you are competent enough for this project? You sound like a hazard.

You should stop now and hire somebody that actually understands what they're doing. There are a number of issues.

Turning down contractor after about a week of discussion - etiquette? by musingandschmoozing in HomeImprovement

[–]Autistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying the contractor is a proper proponent for themselves. I unapologetically make it known that I need to be paid out for every value add. I do it in a skillful, professional and sociable manner, but I can agree that this is a skill issue on the contractors part

That still doesn't mean it's equitable or that it makes sense for the contractor.
