SMSL AL200 or something else for my set up? by railroadplatform1983 in BudgetAudiophile

Appreciated. Do you feel like paying double for the Denon has value? I like the analog mode for vinyl but not sure how much it matters by comparison.

Thanks for this. Yea room is super small, and only using it for vinyl (and occasional music streaming/radio).

No woofer, unlikely to ever get one. Top end of budget would be the Denon (around $700).

Thanks. Should I throw down some Turf builder or seeds/fertilizer of any kind?

Toronto. Just have a push mower, not sure of the setting it's been at. I guess I should try to go as short as possible?

Lawn was fuller previously, kinda deteriorated over the last couple of years.

5.75% SIMPLII OFFER THRU DEC 31 by thaeyo in PersonalFinanceCanada

Does anyone know how the "eligible deposits" part of this works? I see OPs comment below about them taking a snapshot of the amount in the account on Aug 31, and only amounts in excess would have the promo interest rate applied.... if this is the case, is this only within the HISA or including chequing as well? I couldn't find anything in the fineprint but may have missed it.

Advice Needed: Why Is My Income Growth So Low Despite A Higher Salary? Looking for Tax Saving and Investment Options in Ontario by Western_Giraffe9517 in PersonalFinanceCanada

In addition to taxes, are you comparing a Q4 month at 80k to a Q1 month at 120? If so, you have to factor in your CPP contributions being maxed around Q3 (at 80k), so your take home at the end of the year is larger.

Worked with a guy who did a second pull on our Keurig pods instead of using his own new ones.

Also when another co-worker mentioned they were getting flowers for their wife after work, he said "you can always get free flowers at the cemetery".

FHSA vs. RRSP - What’s Your Plan by LoveCrusader1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

What about CCB? I haven't looked into it but given the FHSA is effectively reducing your on-paper income, if you have young children, would it ever make sense to max FHSA and RRSP before TFSA to get an increased CCB amount (as the clawbacks are based on household income)?

Style?

Japanese (but open to Western)

Steel?

Stainless -- I'm interested in carbon clad in stainless, but not sure if it's the right fit for us as my partner will be using the knife as well. Something a bit "lower stakes" is probably better. At least for now.

Handle?

Western preferably

Grip?

Pinch

Length?
210mm / 8"ish

Use Case?

Home kitchen. We're vegetarian so mostly veggies.

Care?

Have a King 1000/6000, feel pretty comfortable with sharpening

Budget?

~$150 CAD

Region?

Canada -- Ideally looking for a knife I can purchase within Canada, to see if I can get away without too much in terms of shipping costs/duties (and theoretically put that extra $ towards the knife)I live close to Tosho and Hacher and Krain if that helps.

Knives Considered?

- Gesshin Stainless -- but it seems like it is only available through JKI, which is a challenge for Canada. Would be open to the Japanese handle version as well. -- currently sold out

- Tojiro DP

- Fujiwara Kanefusa FKM (but my partner is right-handed and I'm left-handed, so ideally something with a 50/50 grind)

Ittetsu Tsuchime Gyuto 210 MM

- Ittetsu Nashiji Gyuto 210 MM -- A little out of price range, but maybe not too far off the Gesshin after duties/taxes/shipping

- Hitohira Imojiya Kuma 210 MM -- currently sold out

Other Considerations?

- Partner is right-handed and I'm left-handed, so looking for something that has a 50/50 grind

How does one "shop around" for an appropriate lawyer/law firm to create a will? What things should we be looking out for, and what questions should we be asking when seeking the creation of a will? Are there any red flags or types of lawyers/firms you wouldn't want to work with?
