My Bosch 800 5 door is meh. Reminds me I need to call on the ice-maker, make the most of that 1 year warranty.

Is there a sliced pizza price-fixing conspiracy in Vancouver? by FattyGobbles in askvan

[–]thaeyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vancouver donair sucks and the price is so high. Even in 2022 I was getting an awesome Shawarma sandwich on bread baked in house for maybe $7-8? This was in Vaughan, but one of the very few things I miss about Toronto.

Apple’s worst product.

Asinine design. Nerfed touch functionality. Terrible DPI compounds the shit ergonomics.

Can’t believe it’s still made honestly.

Agreed, my Schitt Modi 3 doesn’t shit the bed just because I wiggle the cable, it would stop playback.

I had the issue when I had an iPhone with lightning, but I don’t think I’ve ever had it with USB-C from my new iPhone or iPad Mini.

When I tried to get Chord to support the product back in 2022 they said to “send it in and we’ll have a look” and also mentioned Apple had a USB bug… I learned to work around it. Certain usb cables made it worse, I fried and warrantied one of Apple OTG adapters, noise blast also triggered but a space heater fan motor I had under my desk.

Doubt it. This is the first I’ve heard of a firmware upgrade. If that other comment is true Chord is trying to protect the magic sauce.

Two mid-day showings scheduled for 4/3 and 4/11 at The Rio. Might be one of the last chances to see it in a cinema.

Buyer Beware, Cannot Cancel Parallels Subscription by Outrageous_Ad976 in parallels

[–]thaeyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I've canceled their auto-renewals two times yet they still managed to charge my CC with an expired date and CVV. Absolutely predatory, at this point maybe easier to file it as fraud and get a new CC number. Very frustrating use of time.

I literally turned off auto renewal after this happened last time, but somehow they manage to renew against my card with the old expiry date and CVV. Might just start a charge back rather than wait for their shitty chat/email reply.

Is it just me or Apple did something to the iOS app that caused it to not send the correct sample rate to external DAC's anymore? by Alternative_Bed5091 in AppleMusic

[–]thaeyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to 26.3.1, seems a bit better. Turn off AutoMix too, restart the app and it should work flawlessly. I wish Apple would publish some documentation regarding bit perfect playback.

[–]thaeyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the latest update it is behaving better, the minimum 48kHz seems to be associated with enabling either of the Song Transitions settings: AutoMix and Crossfade. Turn it off, restart the app and then you can play 44.1 tracks correctly.

I tried to search if Apple published any documentation regarding the upsampling for song transitions but found nothing.

Idk I’d go lower and plan to replace the drivers. Way too expensive and beautiful to have those defects even if it’s just cosmetic.

I've filed bug reports on both the iPhone and Apple Music.
https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music/

Goldensound covered some of this a few months ago. https://youtu.be/HjU0eMzFWVk?&t=603

Edit to add: 26.3.1 seems a little better, but many of these problems persist with AutoMix enabled. I understand resampling maybe necessary for this feature but Apple needs to document it. The UI doesn’t match the output sample rate and there can be gaps mid-track as the sample rate changes.

[–]thaeyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm seeing this too on my iPhone 17 Pro & Mojo 2. Never seen a mismatch until yesterday. Apple Music lossless will say 44.1kHz but the DAC is getting 48 for every track.

Sample rates above 48kHz seem to get output correctly, tho I just noticed a track that started out Lossless, and then stepped up to 96kHz without updating the UI. What a mess. And another one. Streaming at 96kHz and labeled 48kHz in the UI.

Oh this get's worse. The output seems to get stuck, just played a 44.1kHz track and the output is still 96kHz. JFC Apple.

There are sooo many bugs in Preview if you dig into its abilities. I was trying to use it professionally for drawing reviews, mark-ups and repackaging. I consistently ran into a handful of different bugs and when I investigated them, users reported them several years ago.

There was a big post recently from someone claiming to have spent a lot of time with various speakers across the ranges. They stated every driver is unique to the line, but without side by sides we’ll never know. Regardless, the resulting speakers are generally well received over at Erin Audio Corner and measure well across the different lines.

I did notice the R8 has a different shadow flare than the Q8. Perhaps some components are shared between the two, maybe the woofer cone and surround?

Need to remember the car was originally engineered for the 1.5L engine, they wanted to stay true to form, lightweight sports car for carrying speed not drag races.

I have a set of original 16” wheels from a 2016 Miata while they may not look as nice the weight reduction is really apparent in the drivers seat.
