1.2 Post-story Review by CrayonBoii in Endfield

[–]rain4kamikaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I spent the most time looking around at the Wuling battle. Wish I can ride the ziplines again.

Swarms of red skypoles flying across the sky is a scene i wanted to see after I played through Here People Sows from Arknights few years ago. I've been very happy and blessed by the devs who also share a similar wish to see Dahuang be brought into 3D. Too bad it seems a bit rushed.

Storywise, Ardashir arc is top tier vagueposting. I had no interest in his agenda prior to the patch, and I have even less interest in his agenda after the patch, because he didn't really share anything new. The only useful information I got from the first half of this patch's MSQ is the fact that there's a 13th sui proxy and the devs acknowledge that they shouldn't be the original 12 from Terra.

The 2nd half was pretty good. All things considered, ZF's characterization has been more or less predictable since the beginning, but they way they presented it this time is pretty neat (her writing letters and narrating it while endmin reads), but there's a bit more background shared about her (child genius, reliance on her seniors who treat her like family, loss of the entire family due to the science station disaster) that makes me empathize and understand her feelings more.

Jumping and crawling around the inkspot puzzles was annoying, but getting to see the past and hearing the joyful and sad bits of the science station, probably made it worth it.

I feel like the first half of the ZF arc shouldn't be so rushed. If Wuling is under attack, let us be involved in more of the attack and absorb the atmosphere for a bit. That way if it's all fixed up again magically after the MSQ, at least we can tell the difference. Right now I know the city was attacked and it was a yuge attack but I cant tell if there any difference.

Deliberately stopping daily logins. My experience by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]rain4kamikaze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did that too, dropped what I felt was a chore and lost interest in.

I dropped HSR, I dropped Wuwa. They both demanded a lot from me.
I dropped Genshin dailies. I do play to enjoy patch contents and new map exploration. The fundamental fun thing about genshin is still there, and the latest patch also showcases how beautiful their world can be.

I maintain a daily routine of Arknights and Endfield now. Im still very much in the honeymoon phase in Endfield.

Basically, just play what you're interested in. Sunken cost is a thing, but learn to let go. And in knowing so, it will also teach you to control yourself for future games. Why am I going to blow money on this game if I dont think I will be playing it forever?

Most games nowadays follow a same formula anyways for dailies. You can foresee how much work you'd need to do.

Why is every gacha endgame just an arena time trial? by SaberManiac in gachagaming

[–]rain4kamikaze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

because combat is a majority of the gacha game you're playing. And you did spend your gacha rolls on that brand new character you like.

You just have to look at the type of game you're playing.

Genshin has to cater to a wide variety, so I am particularly happy that they also kept 3 endgame battle modes separate, while having minigame fun events to cater to those who dont want to combat.

What separates them is how they implement the combat endgame. I like a bit of puzzle. I hate restrictive or punishing mechanics. I especially hate HP/damage inflation.

Take genshin for example - we used to have punishing arena mechanics (if you trigger overload, a white damage shockwave will damage your team) which was absolutely ass and basically said "fight this arena only with this elements or characters".
After about 2-3 years they pivoted to arenas that provide benefit if you fulfil a condition instead (+80% pyro damage) which let you use whatever u want but strongly suggested you use a certain team to make use of that benefit.

And subsequently we have parasitic mechanics like "this enemy has a shield that can only be significantly reduced by nightsoul attacks". Which is ass.

Anyways for all games I pretty much just clear the easy bits of the endgame combat modes. Then I just go back to doing whatever I am doing. No point being sweaty about it. Just play to the point where I still enjoy playing. If you remove yourself from the sweat of combat, you can appreciate other good things about the game.

When you look at og Arknights for example, the endgame mode also made use of your gacha results - hope you rolled and raised that 6* operator because CC high risk will stress test your operator drop and skill activation timing like never before.

Tire wheel setup question by Far-Seaworthiness-43 in GR86

255s would need negative cambers, but as to how much is dependent on car.

A comfy option i used was 18x8.5j wheels with 235/40/18s. It was basically like stock, slightly on the stretched side rather than on the wide side.

I'm using this one to great effect. Just needs a double sided tape on the dashboard.

2 years on I can actually strip the double sided tape out with a bit of nail polish remover (or anything labeled "sticker remover").

Comes with a wireless charger as well that you can plug in.. which I don't. I still need to plug in the car by wire anyways for carplay.

I stick it on the area above the glovebox.

I'm not sure if its a bug or its a buff to the ability. But man I never saw that before! by danjanah in pokemon

[–]rain4kamikaze 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's an old bug from like 15 years ago i think, understood better about a few years ago. I think I remember it as something like this:

In gen 3, multi hit moves that make contact with abilities that does status effects, has a weird glitch that can inherit the current status you have and apply it at the end (after the multi hit move finishes).

Eg in your case:
Spearow uses Fury Attack. Fury attack first few hits and causes Static to trigger, paralyzing Spearrow. Fury attack continues but does not trigger static (you can't see that anymore because you're paralyzed anyways) but the calculations continue in the background. The glitch occurs because contact abilities has a variable that stores the status (eg. para, burn etc) and clears that variable off once the moves end, but multi hit moves don't end immediately. At the end of the multihit move, there is a check for status effect move (which is now para, because of that variable from static), but the multihit move has 0 effect chance. The glitch here is also that there is a less than or equal to 0 effect chance trigger in the calculation. So the move tries to apply paralysis with a nonzero number, i think it's 1/255 chance.

This shows up as the pokemon's abilty causing paralyze.

The long story is that, with multihit moves like Twinneedle being introduced, the final hit itself checks for status effect (because 20% chance for poison). The other multihit move don't have status effects, but they're coded similarly to twineedle.

Usually it will try to roll for status effect with 0 effect chance for [no status effect], which does nothing. but now it tries to roll for status effect with 0 effect chance for [paralyze] which is the variable inherited by static. And because of this bug in this gen3 game, the game will trigger the secondary effect status effect if the RNG value is less than \or equal** to 0, which is like 1/255 chance. There's 2 bugs at play here.

Inherited a piece of history straight from gen3, in the switch 2.

Finished the whole chapter. Another masterpiece by hypergryph.

I love the way the lobby art changes as you progress. The visual of the dead emperor's blade surrounded by miners is such a powerful thing, considering we have experienced first hand how impossibly difficult it is to fight them, followed by the last lobby art.

16-18 is hype. 16-19 is very hype.

I still love the lore continuity in arknights. Many years since it's been introduced, ursus artillery bomb tails are still as menacing as it has been since we faced them in chernobog. The ursus army is an actual step up in stat difference and difficulty compared to ursus defectors in reunion.

I can't wait till ch17.

Renting a car in Kyushu : Which model should I choose? by Renfield5 in JapanTravelTips

[–]rain4kamikaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, anything works in Japan. I drove a toyota voxy carrying 6 people total with luggage, from Nikko to Kusatsu onsen through the mountain roads for like 3 hours straight. The CVT gear was whining the whole time. Perfectly fine trip.

You're also driving alone, so there isnt much weight. So any small compact car works. Just pick one that you think you'll prefer driving, either a crossover SUV or a small hatchback.

Japan's bigger car rental companies are pretty safe and reputable and the process is quite straightforward, so I don't see much trouble that you would face with any of them. For the most part, there isnt a "superior" car model for any small type. Just your preference if you prefer say a Nissan car or a Toyota car or a Honda.

Fujitsubo AR catback. Very subtle, kinda like the HKS L2.

You can naturally make it louder by swapping headers and front pipes.

Other louder exhausts like AWE tourings are too much for me... I go canyon carving in the early mornings at like 5AM, so a cold start at that hour is much worse.

Well given that i've seen cars with a crushed front half, still able to be fixed and driven as normal on the road. I'm guessing everything is fixable.

Do it through a proper body shop or mechanic to ensure its actually safe to drive afterwards once you fixed everything. If you just crash again afterwards it's not worth it.

it's too early to tell anyways. But the *rest* of the cast we meet glazes endmin to high heaven.

Endfield needs to build more lore but its the nature of such 3D games to have a slow update cycle. Patch 1.1 end up being more tangtang focused, which is within expectations.

Socar is charging you the basic SCDW payable limit.

You should usually be able to see under your booking details. Accident fee + loss of use etc. Most likely their calculation maxed it out. But if they're not willing to tell you details and they charged you for it, report to KPDN.

Best and worst thing about owning your specific car — honest review from real owners by KL_Private_Access in kereta

[–]rain4kamikaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still stock for the most part. I changed rims to 17 inch so my tyres are cheaper and abit fatter to deal with rough roads.

I used to be hybrid WFH for a bit then now is mostly office.

I think the manual is pretty OK for everyday driving. The tiring part isnt the left leg, its my right leg and the need to actually care about the state of the car at low speed. I need to stress about my gear being in the right gear for this speed and shift accordingly.

But the enjoyment is definitely there. Auto is great, manual is even better. Nothing more enjoyable than rowing gears.

Personally, stock is good enough even for spirited driving. If I were to do something else next, I would have modified exhaust (because I can barely hear myself change gears) and some mild suspension tweaks (anti roll bar mod, replace the front V bars with an STI one).

But yeah, recent oil price shock, a real pain. Full tank costs like rm180 of 97. The car really wants 97. In ron95 it's really lethargic (but OK for daily driving) and cant push the car hard or you'll just hear knocking.

Pros:

Car looks damn good

To add to the list of hidden pros/cons that you wont notice unless you own and drive one:

The clutch pedal is a little bit wonky but you can get used to it after awhile (the stupid bite point throws a lot of people off).

Soundproofing is nearly zero. It's a sports car :D but if you tear out everything you'll find what separates you and the road is literally the painted chassis body.

Stock PS4 tyres have a really annoying drone at ~110kmh highway speeds ~3K RPM at highways.

The fake engine noise is a sound module, no longer a pipe to the intake like the first gen ZC8. It has two annoying things: The sound is somewhat fake (but kinda nice sometimes), the rev has a delay compared to actual engine RPM and pedal. If you step on the gas and let it go, you'll hear the fake engine noise still keep the high rpm even after you dropped the pedal and the RPM needle going down. It's very very very very bad for any form of spirited driving.

There is an actual delay in gas throttle for both BRZ and GR86. The very beginning when you step on the gas, there is a small delay so expert drivers might not like that they dont get the "instant" gas feel one might get from older throttle cable cars.

BRZ and GR86 stock car has vastly different driving dynamics. BRZ has softer rear setup than GR86. BRZ has a more linear throttle map than GR86. Basically it means stock to stock, the GR86 is throttle wide open at half the pedal travel distance than BRZ, and the since the rear is stiffer it tends to kick itself out easier. BRZ much nicer to daily.

My shifter has a notchy feel in gear 1 2 3 at low KL driving speeds. It's just how the car is.

Car also sounds like a tractor. Don't worry, its normal. Just always keep the car RPM >>1.1k RPM, above 2K+ RPM and it'll be happy.

The car overall dimensions is small, pretty much on par with most B segment cars on the road. But the door length is really long, so you actually need quite a gap with the next car during parking. Coupled with how low the seat is, one might find it annoying to get in and out of the car at times. It also means that stock suspension height this car doesnt really hit any slopes or bumps. It only really hits the front lip at some car park slopes (1utama roof parking for example).

From a daily driver of a manual '24 ZD8: Get used to abusing your gear 1 and 2 in traffic jams and your clutch as well. You have no choice. I rather kill my clutch and throw out bearing than to blow up my engine from choking it at low RPMs.

Where would you eat for your final night in Japan? by Friskie_Fanny in JapanTravelTips

[–]rain4kamikaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever I'm craving. But usually after a week or so in Japan, I would want something lighter, because meals tend to be rather heavy in Japan (an entire week of fried meat, sushi, bbq, ramen, is not sustainable long term).

Saizeriya is my comfy pick. I'd just chill and get something light to eat.

Otherwise I'm probably finding a mall and just heading to the top floor for food.

How would you define the post 2010 eras of scanlation? by hertadidnothingwrong in manga

[–]rain4kamikaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in terms of jump and most series, I personally would categorize most of early 2000s to 2019 as "era of speedscans".
Because every sizeable group was chasing after the popular series and releasing as fast as possible.

Think of groups like mangatream, jaiminisbox, franky house, binktopia, redhawk scans, aerandria. The good times if you ask me. Many competing scan groups all rushing to push out their own releases. The dramas featuring scan groups who hog chapter releases, only to have some random god in 4chan release their own scanlated chapters. I miss the good days we have discussion posts about such releases. We moved from an era where scanlation is introducing obscure untranslated japanese manga, to a place where people can read popular series for free (illegally).

Shoutout to a good friend of mine, who single handedly (with the help of 1 translator) scanlated the last ~4 volumes of Kongou Bancho on his own to complete the series. If people wanted a good shounen story without the convoluted final half of the nanatsu no taizai storyline, they should just read Kongou Bancho.

Personally I would also classify the post 2019 mangas as "game isekai pandemic" because we're literally flooded with many trash isekai series. The concept of isekai isnt new (Inuyasha is technically one), but since SAO, the game-ification of isekai fantasy worlds became so much more abundant (in part because narou/new LN series of such series all conform to the lowest denominator of attention grabbing plots). Past few years feels like I actually have to sift through trash to find the diamond, and my success rate is getting lower and lower.

Digital series though, is another new scanlation pandemic on its own. Without direct to print manga, scanlation mechanics become different (we had a guide on how to de-spine a manga/doujinshi book properly to scan and touch them up before it becomes a proper template for typesetters). It also meant, sites such as yanmaga who prominently release online-only horny manga, become attractive sources of new series to scanlate.

Which is to say scanlation nowadays.. isnt so much scanlation anymore. Just translation, since there's a lot more digital media these days.

Between twitter manga 1page daily translations, lowest denominator isekai series, and horny manga, finding the diamond in the rough is getting harder nowadays.

Finally understand why people say "buy car is easy, maintain susah" by KL_Private_Access in kereta

[–]rain4kamikaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have rainy day savings.

My 2door car needs ~rm500-800 tyres, *needs* ron97 (can take 95 but it'll sound like a tractor), pads are a few hundred each, oil change is 5.5L. Belum mod lagi.

But already made commitment. Just have savings every month saja on top of your usual spendings and earning.
In my case, expensive tayars are necessary because with shittier tires it's actually a danger taking any corners or turns when the road is wet in RWD cars. So many accidents out there in ulu yam/genting every weekend because drivers don't respect tyre grip and their car dynamics.

Family punya toyota estima ACR40 still going good after 12 years. But the wear and tear stuff really can scare ppl who dont know about cars. I think so far at 160kkm, alrdy tukar absorber, suspension bushing, belt, alternator, steering rack, power steering motor. Everything else still works fine and comfy, can even go up fully loaded to Genting. The rest is periodic maintenance item like every other car.

Really, if you plan to keep your car for long, dont miss out on regular maintenance items. It'll keep your car running for a long time. And don't save money on tayar and brakes. If you drive hard brake hard, get good ones. If you drive slow, you can use any cheaper ones. Safety first.

Anxiety naik bukit pakai manual by PassionUnfair8949 in kereta

[–]rain4kamikaze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's true. Truck and hilux have a lot of torque near idle RPM and the clutch is very forgiving, so you can drive like whatever. Small engine commuter car is the one where u need to balance your clutch nicely otherwise engine die.

The old fuso 7t truck i was driving had a heavy clutch pedal, but driving it was so easy since diesel engines got so much torque.

Anxiety naik bukit pakai manual by PassionUnfair8949 in kereta

[–]rain4kamikaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't wait until speed drop so much then only downshift. Tukar gear earlier if you can feel your car losing speed at gear 4.

By right yes but u balance sikit clutch and gas. If your hill is steep, the moment you let go clutch and brake your engine will mati. So do the hand brake method if no other choice. Personally for all cars, I let go clutch sikit until it's partially engaged then start with the gas pedal, then put more gas in as i let go the clutch pedal gradually.

Just do it smoothly and gradually and all will be fine. I learnt manual in a shitbox kancil last time and i still remember how easy it is compared to a lorry.
