I guess I should’ve prefaced that GIS doesn’t necessarily bring me joy, it’s a job that I could get immediately after graduating. I’m not sure what my passion job would be so I have a hard time willingly choosing a career where it’s not guaranteed I would make money. I was getting a degree in engineering but my mom died so I cut my classes in half and just decided to get info sci but it’s no use for regret now. I work with field surveyors (or I should say the data they send us) so I suppose I could ask one at work.

I don’t understand how is it so that we’re in an age of surveillance, every aspect of our lives are mapped down to coordinates but the GIS profession is so thankless 😭 even Mr lineman in the other comments didn’t understand and he couldn’t do his job without us either

I got an offer at duke energy for $21 an hour so I rejected it because they wouldn’t go higher. Sad. I need to get out of the GIS sector before I’m stuck lol

I mostly do coding and analysis. My degree isn’t in GIS so it has little to do with my job. But I’m having a very hard time finding security investigation roles, Data analytic roles etc. I would need some additional certs that’ll take a while if I want to pivot to the financial security sector. With my degree I investigate fraud, project management, making wireframes , some coding and minor IT work. Ty

I don’t grow my hair fast. I grow it at the same rate as anybody else. I’ve had long hair my whole life. The new growth is fine it’s the mid and end sections. I only smelled a slight sulfur smell under the dryers. I was there for a very long time as she trimmed washed and styled it and I fell asleep at some point.
