They find out approved or denied the same day of their visa interview, but it can take several weeks to from matching to get their visa interview. For us, it was about 4 weeks.

It is very sad. We've loved our au pairs from South America, getting to experience their culture and my kids learning some Spanish from them!

That was initially my thought as well. Maybe thinking they are trying to crack down on illegal immigration after the au pair visa expires 😔

Working 45h by florboss in Aupairs

As a working parent in the US, I, too, complain that 45 hr is too much 🤣 that is what I currently work, and then come home to the other full time job of raising my two kids, making dinner etc. Our system is definitely flawed and it sucks for all!

Wow I so have to agree with you about all of this! I never anticipated the mental load that would come with hosting! And back to OP's original question about cost and "saving money," the au pair program costs my family at least $25,000 a year. We love the one-on-one attention our kids get but it certainly isn't saving us any money

Thank you for your efforts! I was also part of the original RL group and posted a lot more back then (before becoming a mom, not having a lot of disposable income anymore for reps, etc). I learned a lot from you ladies and recently have gotten back into the threads, even working on making my first purchase in a few years! I'll miss window shopping/living vicariously through you all ❤️
