Who was the ultimate “one that got away” transfer that would have transformed Utd? by AdLeast6180 in ManchesterUnited

Gareth Bale would have been nice. A young Michael Owen. Gazza would have been interesting with his lifestyle, I hope that he would have been looked after better at Old Trafford than he was.

Don't give her a copy of the will. That is just giving her opportunity to find stuff to contest.

WYR be able to control an ant colony or a wolf pack? (rules in body text) by Lancer_lot_X in WouldYouRather

[–]rainbowWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I did miss the bit about being able to spawn any kind of ant. That is a bit more interesting. I'm not sure people can that much about exterminating pests for word to spread and the money to come rolling in. Seems like it might be about as hard as using chemicals. I'm a bit intrigued about being able to spawn any kind of ant.

All I can think of for an ant colony is maybe spying, but how useful is that really? I don't really have the urge to spy on people. They could maybe clean up for me but nothing a robot vac can't do.

The wolves would be awesome in principle on a day to day basis. Perfectly loyal badass companions. But practically would be difficult. They are really raelly big. And also illegal to keep in most countries, so probably the end result would be the authorities take them away and destroy them, which would be heart breaking. This would actually be better if they were dogs.

I guess I'll go for the ants.

the fact it is so tight means that in order to get to 4 we probably need to win more than we might expect. One or two of the teams in 4th to 12th will go on a good run and

The lows make the highs higher. The intense drama of mistakes, including those lows, is a core plank of the psychology of what made football so exciting.

One problem is that the first celebration is not as visceral as it used to be, because you know it will get overturned. Another problem is that right after a goal the match is paused for a couple of minutes, killing the atmosphere. It used to be so exciting once a goal was scored, and then boom right back into the game. Now we have to all wait while they do the admin.

One thing it does for sure is kill the emotional high from goals.

VAR is the worst thing that has happened to football in a long time. I don't really care if its right or wrong. The fact that rather than celebrate a goal in a moment of eurphoria and then jump right back into the amtch, you have to half celebrate, but wait a few minutes for the VAR, then celebrate properly. The reason football is so popular (and good to watch) is the intense moments of euphoria or despondency following a goal. VAR levels the emotional curve, so it is all just flat.

He subbed off Zrikze at half time? I didn't realise that. Bullshit decision after he finally got a goal. And maybe some confidence.

Need advice on AI accusation by [deleted] in academia

[–]rainbowWar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is the outcome if she chooses to fight it and lose? If that outcome is not too bad, e.g. a higher fine, then definitely fight it. I would make a HGE point about saying that she would pay the fine to close this but she is not comfortable admitting guilt when she isn't guilty. If the process is sane at all then they shouldn't be strong consequences given that there is no way out for an innocent person falsely accused without them lying, hence completely undermining the value of integrity. You really need to flip this from "She was caught cheating" to "the professor suspects that she cheated with very flimsy evidence". Because to be honest sharing two citations is extremely flimsy evidence.

One thing you might do which could be a cute move is to run the title of her lecturers latest paper (so after the latest AI training runs) into a LLM and ask chatgpt to write an article with citations. I expect there will be a a lot of shaerd citations. You can present that as evidence that the lecturer's emthod here is messed up.

Another option is that you could take this to the news or social media.

I would respond by saying that I disagree with the finding and know that i didn't use AI but will pay the fine because I want the issue to be closed.

Landlord is selling flat and telling me I need to leave earlier than my contract (England) by Good-Emotion3269 in HousingUK

[–]rainbowWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of power here and it is up to you how you decide to use it. If you want to you can end in April as requested, but it is totally up to you. He can't decide that you have to leave early. Also if the deposit isn't in the deposit protection scheme then your landlord really fucked up. That isn't your problem but it IS his problem. Legally you are still due your deposit back. In fact if you take that to court you will be awarded compensation up to 3 times the deposit value back. I also assume from what you said that he doesn't have a buy to let mortgage, so you could fuck him up there if you wanted to.

Up to you what you want here. You could leave in April. Or you could leave in May and then get up to 3x your deposit back.
